Over the next few days, Diana visited Elliot almost every day, bringing him food. The dishes were different each time, effectively making her his personal chef.
But with frequent visits came the inevitable spread of rumors.
Whispers started circulating within the organization, claiming Diana was Elliot’s woman. Some even insisted they’d seen them kissing.
Of course, these rumors didn’t happen by accident. They were all part of Diana’s plan.
She deliberately made sure people saw her acting close to Elliot, especially when someone came to report something to him. She’d lean in a little too closely or perform intimate gestures like wiping his mouth or ladling soup for him.
The rumors snowballed, becoming more outrageous with each retelling, and eventually reached Suzy’s ears.
Speaking of Suzy, that phone call Diana had supposedly made to her? It never actually happened. It was all andet for Elliot’s benefit.
Hearing about how close Diana and Elliot had supposedly become, Suzy was surprised. After some thought, she decided to call Diana.

Diana readily agreed and invited Suzy to her cottage rather than meeting somewhere public.

She called out softly, her tone carrying an emotional weight she couldn’t quite put into words.
Suzy grew concerned. “What’s wrong?”
Something must have happened. Diana wouldn’t have stayed out of touch for so long otherwise, let alone greet her like this..
Could it be related to Elliot?
After holding onto Suzy for a while, Diana finally released her. “Nothing’s wrong. I just missed you so much. I couldn’t wait to see you.
“Oh, so you still remember me?” Suzy teased lightly. “I thought you’d forgotten all about me! You haven’t been in touch, and I was starting to think something serious had happened. But now I see you’ve just been too busy… spending all your time with someone else!”
Suzy raised an eyebrow. “I’ve heard you’ve been getting awfully close to my student lately. What’s this? Did you fall for him?”

him… which is why I’ve felt a bit awkward facing you.”
She felt guilty for deliberately getting close to Elliot to clear the path for her brother, doing things she knew Suzy wouldn’t approve of.
But Suzy’s interpretation was completely different from Diana’s intentions.
“What’s there to feel awkward about? You’re both single and honestly, I think you two are a great match!”
And she meant it. Diana was wonderful, and Elliot wasn’t bad either. They were only a year apart, and their age and family backgrounds complemented each other perfectly.
Diana knew Suzy had misunderstood, but instead of clarifying, she went along with it. “But he likes you. It feels a little wrong for me to step in like this.”
“Stop right there.” Suzy raised a hand to cut her off. “Whatever feelings he has are his business. I only see him as my student. Don’t overthink it.

“If you like him, then go after him. And not to brag, but that brat may have a bit of a temper, but otherwise, he’s a solid guy. These days, finding someone reliable isn’t easy. If you’ve met someone like him, don’t let doubts hold you back.”
“Mm–hmm.” Diana nodded, though her thoughts were more complicated.
After spending time with Elliot these past few days, she’d come to realize he wasn’t bad at all. Despite being younger than her brother, his character was solid.
If circumstances were different, she might genuinely consider setting him up with Suzy. But that would mean sacrificing two of her closest loved ones and she wasn’t selfless enough to do that.
