All his life, Dylan had prided himself on being shrewd. Yet here he was, realizing he’d been played by Anne–a woman more than a decade his junior. The flash drive had laid everything bare, recording her repeated manipulations and her attempts to shift blame onto Suzy.
It wasn’t just this recent kidnapping; even the last time, Suzy had been falsely accused. He looked down at the medical report Desmond had just handed him.
A stab wound to the abdomen, narrowly missing her spleen.
A fractured shin on her left leg.
Multiple abrasions on her face…
When she’d called to say she was seriously injured and needed him to authorize treatment, it had all been true.

Dylan’s grip on the medical report tightened as a sharp, unfamiliar pain stabbed through his chest, like tiny needles piercing his heart.
Desmond noticed the look of regret in his eyes and hesitated before saying, “We’re still investigating the source of the flash drive. Just give me a bit more time, sir.”
Dylan didn’t even glance up. “No need.”
If someone intended to stay hidden, it wouldn’t be easy to uncover them. Besides….
A dark glint flashed in his eyes as he finally turned to Desmond. “When will Claude officially take over Harlow Corporation?”
“Not sure yet,” Desmond replied. “It doesn’t seem like Mr. Matthew has any immediate plans to hand it over to him.”
“Is that so?” Dylan’s gaze deepened. “Looks like I’ll have to pay the Harlow estate another visit.”
Desmond held his tongue, though he wanted to say, “Anne’s out of the picture, and the deal with Red Falcon is over. Claude’s succession has nothing to do with us now.
Instead, he ventured, “Sir, if you want to see Mrs. Wright, you could simply go. After all, you do owe her an apology.”
“Apology?” Dylan scoffed. “Whether or not she was falsely accused doesn’t erase her intentions from three years ago.
“And even if our business with Red Falcon has ended, Claude is a valuable friend to have.

When Suzy learned that Dylan had effectively banished Anne from his life, she didn’t feel nearly as gleeful as Allen did,
“Hoss, your move was brilliant!” Allen couldn’t contain his satisfaction, picturing Anne’s desperate pleas to see Dylan, only to be turned away at every attempt. “She must be ready to bang her head against the wall from regret! She tried to frame you, only to end up destroying herself!”
Suzy just smirked lightly, “Heaven may forgive sins wrought by fate, but self–made sins are never spared.”
“Well said!” Allen’s expression turned serious “Anyone who’s done wrong will face their reckoning, it’s only a matter of time.”
First Anne–next would be her parents,
Suzy glanced at him, her gaze sharpening. “Matthew’s been keeping quiet these last couple of days, likely stalling for time. No need to wait any longer.”

Suzy yawned, pulling her blanket up. “It’s late Drive carefully on your way back.
With that, she rolled over, cocooning herself in the blanket and promptly going to sleep.
Allen was speechless.
Did she really have zero sense of caution around him? He was still a man, after all. Watching her turn her back, a flicker of something unreadable flashed in his eyes.
Suzy slept soundly and, after waking, decided to find Claude for breakfast.
But on her way, she was stopped.
Seeing Dylan standing there, a thought flitted through her mind-“Could he be here to apologize?”
But his words shattered that notlon. “Suzy, don’t think you’re entirely innocent. I don’t owe you anything.”
