As Suzy began her large–scale search, word quickly reached Dylan.
“Sir, we’ve found information about Mrs. Wright!” Desmond handed Dylan a report. “In a
lawless area of Ridgehaven, some informants spotted a group searching everywhere with lawless area of Ridgehaven, s
photos of her father.”
The moment Dylan saw the report, his expression darkened. “That area is notoriously unsafe. Send people to protect her immediately!”
“I’ve already contacted our men stationed there to keep an eye on her from the shadows,” Desmond replied. “But honestly, even without our intervention, Mrs. Wright should be fine. The group helping her is reportedly the most powerful gang in the region.
“She must have a connection to their leader. Otherwise, there’s no way they’d go to such lengths to assist her.”
“Who’s the leader?”
Someone nicknamed Drake. Here’s his photo.”
The moment Dylan saw the picture, his brows furrowed sharply. “Are you certain?”
“At first, I was skeptical too,” Desmond admitted. “He’s so young–only twenty–one years old. They say he became the gang’s boss at eighteen. Don’t be fooled by his refined appearance; he’s incredibly shrewd and capable.”

Desmond paused, hesitating before adding with a touch of curiosity, “What’s odd is why someone like him would go out of his way to help Mrs. Wright. Could it be that he’s… interested in her?”
The last comment slipped out before Desmond realized what he’d said. As soon as the words left his mouth, he froze, glancing nervously at Dylan.
Sure enough, Dylan’s expression had turned stone–cold.
Desmond scrambled to backtrack. “What I meant was they’re close in age, so maybe they just hit it off and found common ground. No, wait–that’s not what I meant! It’s because Mrs. Wright is so beautiful. Any man with functioning eyes might develop feelings for her at first. sight…”
The more he spoke, the worse it got.

Deciding it was better to quit while he was ahead. Desmond promptly shut his mouth.
But the damage was done. Dylan’s face was already several shades darker, his iey glare enough to silence the room.
To be fair, Desmond wasn’t entirely wrong–Suzy did have the kind of beauty that could captivate men at first sight. It wasn’t impossible that Drake, as Desmond suggested, had fallen
for her.
After all, he was only twenty–one, an age prone to impulsive decisions.
The more Dylan thought about it, the more unsettled he felt. But….
If he couldn’t make Suzy happy, someone else had to.
Drake seemed decent enough in many ways, and If anyone could give Suzy the happiness she deserved, perhaps it was him.
Clenching his fists tightly, Dylan suppressed the bitterness gnawing at his heart. “Keep a close eye on this Drake. If he dares to harm Suzy in any way, eliminate him.”
Desmond froze, wisely deciding not to comment further.
Days passed since Suzy’s search began, yet there was still no news.
The lack of progress frustrated her. Turning to Elliot, she asked bluntly, “Do your men need better training?”
He had sent out so many people, yet not a single one had proven useful.
Elliot, fully aware of her implication, frowned slightly. “It’s not that my men are incompetent. It’s…”
He hesitated before adding, “Have you considered that the lead you received might have been false?”
“Impossible!” Suzy denied it outright. “That intel was rock solid.”
“So, you still think it’s my men who aren’t up to the task?” Elliot’s brows drew together in a slight frown. “Not to boast, but my men are all highly capable…”
Suzy tried to hold back, but she couldn’t help herself. “Oh, I’m sure. When it comes to shady business, they’re probably the best around!”
