Of course, she refused.
She had no interest in taking on disciples, especially not one who was already an adult.
However, she underestimated his persistence. For six whole months, he clung to her, refusing to give up. She had never met a man so annoyingly determined.
In the end, she had no choice but to relent.
And so, she accepted him as her student and began teaching him martial arts.
He turned out to be a talented disciple, and in just a year, he had mastered everything she taught and was ready to move on.
Later, when his father fell gravely ill, he returned home to take over the family business. At the time, Suzy herself had been betrayed, and in a calculated move, she married Dylan and withdrew from the world for three years. During that period, she paid no attention to Elliot’s affairs and had no idea why he had ended up in his current state.
Still, it was a bold move for someone to target her former student. She was curious to see who had such audacity.
Suzy’s talent for spinning tales was unmatched. In just a few sentences, she had Elliot completely convinced. He held her tightly, his voice filled with guilt.

“It’s okay, it’s okay. I’m just glad I found you,” Suzy replied, barely hiding her amusement. This naïve kid–amnesia or no amnesia–was far too easy to fool.
Seriously, he was the president of the Hayes Corporation and the infamous Drake, yet couldn’t he have just a little more sense?
Oh well. She decided to let it slide for now since there were more important matters to address.
“There’s something else I need to tell you. I didn’t just come here to find you–I’m also looking for our father.”
Strictly speaking, as his mentor, her father was also considered his by association.
“Father?” Elliot frowned. “Father’s missing too?”
“Yes,” Suzy said, lying as effortlessly as ever. “He disappeared while searching for you, and no one’s seen him since.

Suzy immediately tensed. “But what?”
“I don’t remember what Dad looks like,” Elliot admitted. “You’ll need to show me a picture
first. It’ll make it easier for my men to search. I’ll also have them print out copies of his photo.

“Right, of course! How could I forget?” Suzy quickly pulled out her phone and brought up a photo of her father. “Here–this is our dad!”
Elliot studied the image before tilting his head. “Why do I feel like I don’t look anything like him?”
“You take after Mom!”
“Of course, you don’t look like him. You’re not actually related. If you did, that would be the real problem!” Suzy quickly thought.
Elliot glanced at the photo a few more times, then said nothing more. He handed it off to one of his men to have it printed and distributed, setting the search in motion on a large scale.
“When you’re giving your men instructions, don’t tell them we’re looking for our father,‘ Suzy added. “We still don’t know why they call you Drake, and until we figure out the full story, it’s better to keep things vague for your safety. Just say it’s for a friend.”
Elliot agreed without hesitation. “Got it.”
Suzy felt confident that they’d have results soon. After all, Elliot’s power in the area was formidable.
It was said that his men numbered in the thousands, a force that couldn’t be underestimated. For someone she had pegged as lacking in intelligence, he was clearly capable enough to lead such a massive operation and maintain his disguise as Drake for three years without raising suspicion.
