Chapter 0545
Victor’s simple statement that Suzy was gone hit Dylan like a blow, nearly stopping his heart.
He knew exactly what her silent departure meant more clearly than anyone else.
Even though he thought he was prepared for this moment, when it actually happened, he found himself unable to accept it.
Her leaving like this meant one thing: they were truly over.
Just the thought of it made his chest tighten painfully, his heart aching with suffocating regret.
Victor hesitated, debating whether to say anything further. Dylan already looked miserable, but he couldn’t hold back any longer.
“Listen, Dylan, I wasn’t going to say this, but seriously, what were you thinking? Suzy went above and beyond for you–how much more could she do? And you just kept hesitating, holding back, too afraid to move forward.
“Well, now look–she’s gone! And knowing her temper, which you know better than I do, do
think she’ll look back once she’s decided to leave? Are you really sure you won’t regret
you
this?
“And she already told you there’s hope for your legs. She’s not just anyone; she’s a miracle doctor! Even if you can’t trust anyone else, how can you not trust her?”
“What if it doesn’t work?”
There was always a chance it wouldn’t work, and if it didn’t, he knew he would ruin her life. –
“There’s no such thing as what if with Suzy!” Victor snapped, pointing at him. “If she says she can fix it, then she will fix it. The problem is you’re stuck in this endless loop of doubt and overthinking!”
It wasn’t just doubt, though. Dylan’s treatment had already been ongoing for a while, and the results had been slow. While he had regained some strength in his legs, standing on his own was still impossible.
The lack of noticeable progress made him feel like hope was slipping further away, no matter how hard he tried not to think about it.
Most of all, he was afraid to gamble.
If he gambled on this and lost, there would be no going back.
Seeing Dylan remain silent, Victor let out a long sigh. “Dylan, you’re really overthinking this. Suzy’s already taken the first step, which means she’s thought through everything. If she doesn’t care about the risks, why are you so hung up on them?”

The more Victor talked, the more tangled Dylan’s thoughts became. Finally, he muttered, ” I’m heading back to my room.”
“So, that’s it? You’re really going to let it end like this?” Victor tried once more to reason with him. “If you act now, you might still have a chance!”
A chance?
Dylan pressed his lips together and let out a bitter laugh. “I’m afraid it’s already too late.”
“You haven’t even tried. How can you be so sure it’s too late? The helicopter you ordered last night is ready. Let’s leave now. When we get back you can apologize to Suzy. If that doesn’t work, get Madam Grace and Diana to help.”
What neither of them expected, however, was that Suzy hadn’t returned to Ashbourne City at all.
When they asked Allen and Riley about her whereabouts, both of them claimed not to know. “She’s your boss. How can you not know where she went?” Victor said, clearly skeptical. You’re just refusing to tell us–don’t think I’ll believe you!”
“We’re not lying,” Allen replied, exasperated. “She only said she was going to look for her father. As for where she went, she didn’t tell us anything. But you, Mr. Wright…”
Allen turned his gaze to Dylan, his tone full of disdain. “Didn’t you already make it clear that you didn’t want anything to do with her? Why are you looking for her now?”
Riley chimed in, raising an eyebrow. “Don’t tell me you’ve changed your mind.”
Allen scoffed, letting out a cold laugh. “Regretting it now, huh? Don’t you think it’s a little too late for that?
“You lived with our boss for three years. You should know her personality better than anyone. She gave you opportunities–not just once, but multiple times–and you rejected all of them. Now you regret it? Too bad you’ve probably lost your chance for good.”

Not only did they fail to find out where Suzy had gone, but Dylan also had to endure being berated by both Allen and Riley. By the time he returned to Bayview Heights, his mood had hit rock bottom.
Once back, he shut himself in the study.
