Chapter 0529
No matter how many times Dylan refused, Helena was determined to take responsibility for him. She had even started openly referring to herself as his girlfriend, sticking to him like glue.
Due to bad weather, their flight was forced to make an unscheduled landing, and the group had no choice but to stay at a hotel near the airport.
When it came time to book rooms, Helena insisted on sharing one with Dylan.
Her reasoning?
“It’ll be more convenient for me to take care of him!”
Everyone instinctively turned to look at Suzy.
Suzy smiled brightly. “Why is everyone looking at me? I think Helena has thought this through quite well!”
With that, she turned to the receptionist and handed over her card. “Just as she said. Here’s my card–book the room.”
Everyone else was speechless.
Paying out of her own pocket to set up her ex–husband and his new admirer? Helena might be right about Suzy being the best ex–wife ever.
Such generosity in an ex–wife was truly one–of–a–kind.
Dylan glanced at Suzy, and for a moment, it seemed like he was going to say something. But in the end, he remained silent.
The atmosphere turned awkward, and everyone did their best to make themselves invisible, too afraid to say anything.
Helena, however, seemed completely oblivious. Her face lit up with excitement as she looked at Dylan. “Dylan, if you need anything tonight, don’t hesitate to let me know!”
The suggestive tone in her voice felt like an open invitation. Riley and Allen exchanged a look, both raising their eyebrows.
After the check–in was completed, everyone headed to their rooms.
Later, Allen quietly slipped into Riley’s room.
“What’s Helena’s deal?” Allen asked, clearly irritated. “On the surface, she seems straightforward and bold, but there’s something about her that just feels… off.”
He paused, searching for the right words, then finally said, “She’s like one of those pick- me girls. Yeah, that’s it–a total pick–me! It’s like she’s trying too hard to act cool and laid-

back. Honestly, I think she’s just here to mess with Boss.”
Riley, however, shook her head. “Pick–me girl? That’s not Helena at all. She’s not pretending anything. Her intentions are crystal clear. She’s got her sights set on Dylan.
“And let’s be real, she already asked Boss if she was okay with it. Boss didn’t object, so what are you complaining about now? Besides, even if someone did have an issue, it’s not your place to speak up!”
“I’m not objecting,” Allen retorted, frowning. just have this gut feeling that she’s trouble. Don’t tell me you didn’t notice anything off about her!”
Otherwise, why had Riley thrown Helena such a pointed look back at the front desk?
“I really didn’t notice anything strange,” Riley replied, shrugging. “I don’t think Helena is deliberately targeting Suzy. If anything…”
She paused thoughtfully before adding, “Helena’s bold, passionate personality actually reminds me a bit of our boss. Maybe girls with that kind of character just tend to fall for Dylan’s type.”
“You seriously didn’t pick up on anything suspicious about her?”
“You’re overthinking it!” Riley patted Allen on the shoulder. “Look, given everything we’ve been through these past six months–the scheming, the betrayals–it’s understandable you’re overly cautious now. You’re so used to people having bad intentions toward Boss that you’re probably seeing danger where there isn’t any.”
Allen was speechless.
Was that it? Allen found himself second–guessing his instincts. Maybe Riley was right.
But still…
“Do you think Boss really doesn’t care anymore?” he asked quietly.
“Whether she cares or not, only she knows.” Riley gave him a knowing smile. “Why don’t you go ask her yourself?”
Allen stared at her, unsure if she was being serious.
Then, out of nowhere, Riley leaned closer, sniffing theatrically. “Do you smell that? It’s such a strong scent!”
“What smell?” Riley, as people liked to joke about pregnancy making someone a little slow on the uptake, was no exception. Momentarily clueless, she lifted her arm and sniffed. “I don’t smell anything!”
