Chapter 0523
Serena didn’t hesitate for a moment. It was as if Evangeline wasn’t her sister, but her
sworn enemy.
The bullet sped toward Evangeline’s heart, and she stood frozen in place, sorrow clouding her eyes as she stared at Serena without flinching.
“Move! Get out of the way!” Suzy shouted, her voice sharp with urgency. “She’s not worth it! Feeling sad for someone like her is pointless!”
But whether it was worth it or not, Evangeline couldn’t control her emotions.
The words Serena had just spoken kept slicing through her heart like a blade, leaving her gasping for breath as the pain overwhelmed her.
For years, she had cherished her sister, treating her as her only family, while Serena regarded her as nothing more than an enemy.
The more she thought about it, the more suffocating the pain in her chest became.
If Serena wanted her life, she could have it.
Just as she resolved herself to this thought, a sudden force yanked her away. Though her life was spared, the bullet still grazed her arm, tearing through her skin.
The searing pain brought her back to her senses, temporarily dulling the ache in her heart. Realizing she had just stood there, ready to let Serena kill her, she pushed Simon aside and
walked toward Serena.
Simon, worried she was about to do something reckless, grabbed her wrist. “She’s heartless. Even if you died, she wouldn’t shed a single tear for you!”
Evangeline glanced at him, her voice steady but soft. “Don’t worry. I’m done being foolish. I just have a few things I need to say to her.”
Hearing this, Simon finally relaxed a little, though he still didn’t let go of her hand entirely. “Let me at least bandage your arm first.”
“There’s no need.” Evangeline, seemingly unaffected to the pain, turned and walked
toward Serena.
เ
Standing before her sister, she didn’t say a word. Instead, she raised her hand-
Slap!
The sharp sound of the slap echoed through the room, leaving everyone stunned.
Evangeline, known for her gentle nature and calm demeanor, had never raised her voice at anyone, let alone resort to physical violence. Yet now, in front of everyone, she slapped

Serena across the face–a clear sign of just how furious she was.
Serena, equally shocked, stood frozen. She had never expected that Evangeline, of all people, would publicly humiliate her like this.
Clutching her stinging cheek, Serena took a moment to process what had just happened. Then, with a furious glare, she raised her hand, ready to strike back. “How dare you hit me! Who gave you the audacity-”
Before she could finish, Evangeline swiftly grabbed her wrist and flung her aside with force.
Serena stumbled several steps, unable to steady herself, and fell to the ground in a disgraceful heap.
For someone hailed as the most accomplished and elegant woman in Xandria, this public humiliation was unbearable. She looked like a defeated stray, stripped of all dignity.
Her humiliation only deepened her hatred. To Serena, everything–her disgrace, her downfall–was Evangeline’s fault. Her voice was sharp with venom as she screamed, ‘ Eyangeline, I’ll kill you! I swear I’ll kill you!”

Evangeline’s expression didn’t waver. She stared at Serena, her face blank, her eyes devoid of emotion. “Serena, whatever bond we had as sisters is completely gone now.”
At this point, there was nothing left to say.
As far as she was concerned, she had no sister. She’d grown up without her father’s love or her mother’s care. And now, she no longer needed Serena in her life.
Resolute, Evangeline turned to her shadow guards. “Take her to the dungeon. No one is allowed to visit her without my permission for the rest of her life.”
“Evangeline!” Serena’s voice cracked with desperation. She hadn’t expected Evangeline to be this ruthless. “I’m your sister–the only family you have left in this world! Are you really going to be this cruel to me?”
