With Evangeline’s permission, Serena immediately went to the prison and took Suzy away.
Evangeline, however, couldn’t shake her unease. “The more I think about it, the more unsettled I feel. Serena wouldn’t have suggested taking Suzy without having some kind of plan. If she can be so ruthless to her own sister she’ll have no mercy when it comes to Suzy,”
Simon understood her concern but trusted Suzy’s abilities. “Don’t worry. My sister isn’t the type to be pushed around. If anything, she’s usually the one doing the pushing. There isn’t a person alive who can truly get the better of her.”
“No matter how capable your sister is, this is Xandria’s territory,” Evangeline replied. ” You know the saying–an outsider, no matter how strong, can’t overpower the locals. Don’t underestimate the situation.”
“I understand, which is why I’ve already sent someone to secretly follow Serena,‘ Simon reassured her. Taking her hand, he added, “The fact that you’re so concerned about my sister–does that mean you’ve forgiven me?”
“W–Who said I’ve forgiven you?” Evangeline’s face turned crimson. “It’s not just your sister–if it were anyone else, I’d still care. After all, Serena is my sister. How could I not care about the person she’s trying to hurt?”
Pulling her hand away, she continued, “Don’t think I’m letting you off for deceiving me so easily!”
With that, she turned and left the room.
No matter how much she loved him, she couldn’t simply accept his deception.
Though it wasn’t outright lying, he had kept things from her. Especially the fact that Suzy was his sister.
If not for their act, she would still be in the dark.
From the moment they met, she had been completely honest with him, assuming he would be the same. But clearly, that wasn’t the case.
This realization made her question whether Simon truly loved her.
Women were like that–once a seed of doubt was planted, it quickly took root and grew.
Reflecting on everything that had happened, Evangeline couldn’t help but feel that Simon’s approach to her might never have been about love at all, but rather driven by some unknown purpose.
However, she couldn’t tell what that purpose was.

After leaving Evangeline Manor, Serena took Suzy directly to her own residence.
Instead of treating her like a criminal, Serena welcomed Suzy with the treatment befitting an honored guest.
“Miss Frost, I’m sorry for the trouble you’ve endured on the way here,” Serena said apologetically as she unlocked the handcuffs. “I truly didn’t expect things to escalate like this…”
Suzy studied Serena from head to toe, her expression unflinching. “Serena, at this point, don’t you think keeping up the act is pointless?
“You were the one who orchestrated this. You’re the one who had that man impersonate my brother. I overheard your conversation that night. Your real goal was to provoke me into killing him, so I’d end up opposing Evangeline.
“You even claimed everything you’ve done was for Evangeline’s sake, that you’d sacrifice yourself if necessary. What a joke. The truth is, you just wanted to use me to get rid of her! You’re the masked woman from before, aren’t you?”
“N–No, it wasn’t me…” Serena stammered, quickly denying it. “Miss Frost, please, let me explain! Yes, that man wasn’t who he claimed to be, but I had nothing to do with it! I never said anything like what you’re accusing me of.
“It must’ve been someone pretending to be me saying those things on purpose just to frame me!”
Tears welled up in Serena’s eyes as she continued. “Evangelina is my sister–my only family in this world. How could I ever hurt her?”
