The man’s voice from inside the room was identical to Simon’s, but Suzy knew better than to trust what she heard. Words could be deceiving, and with someone as cunning as Serena, nothing was as it seemed.
Suzy quietly cracked the door open just enough to peek inside. The moment her eyes landed on Simon, her heart clenched painfully
So it was all a lie?
Anyone else in her position might have stormed in to confront him on the spot. But despite the surge of anger burning in her chest, Suzy forced herself to stay calm. Charging in now would accomplish nothing–it would only put her in danger. This was Serena’s territory, after all.
Suzy carefully closed the door without a sound and turned to leave. She took one step before stopping abruptly, her instincts screaming at her.
“Wait. Something doesn’t add up,” she thought.
The whole scene felt staged, almost as if it had been designed specifically for her to overhear. As if they had anticipated she would come, setting a trap to manipulate her
emotions.
A sly glint flickered in her eyes. “Fine. If they want to play games, I’ll play along.”
As Suzy exited the hallway, she deliberately put on a show of heartbreak, letting her shoulders slump and her expression falter, ensuring the surveillance cameras caught every ounce of her despair.
Inside the study, Serena stepped out moments later, her face alight with smug satisfaction. Watching Suzy’s performance on the monitor only bolstered her confidence.
“So much for her so–called brilliance,” Serena sneered, crossing her arms. “We just used a simple trick, and she’s already falling apart, Now let’s see how Suzy, Simon, and Evangeline tear each other apart.”
If the game required theatrics, Suzy was determined to make her performance believable.
After leaving Serena’s residence, she didn’t return to the hotel.
Instead, she headed straight for Evangeline’s.
Just like before, Suzy made sure her arrival was loud and disruptive.
“Evangeline!” she shouted, her voice echoing through the grand halls. “Did you and Serena really think pinning everything on Helena would keep you safe? Ha! Serena’s plan was

Evangeline appeared, her expression dark with fury. “Suzy, I spared you once out of respect for Dylan. But it seems you’ve chosen to push your luck!”
Even Evangeline’s calm demeanor had limits, and Suzy’s persistence had clearly crossed them.
“If that’s how you want it, then don’t expect me to hold back any longer,” Evangeline said coldly.
“Oh, finally dropping the act?” Suzy taunted, her tone dripping with mockery. “You’ve been playing this holier–than–thou role, but we both know you’re just as scheming as
Serena.
“Unlike her, though, your plan failed miserably. Pretending to be the shadowy mastermind forcing my hand was a clever ruse. I’ll give you that. But I overheard your dear sister just now. Turns out, you’re not so innocent after all.”
Suzy’s words were calculated, her goal was to sow discord between the sisters. From what she’d observed of Evangeline’s previous reactions, she knew there was tension lurking beneath the surface.
As expected, Evangeline’s expression faltered briefly when Suzy mentioned Serena. For a fleeting moment, her features betrayed a mix of guilt and suspicion. But just as quickly, her composure returned.
“My sister is my family,” Evangeline said sharply. “Don’t think you can drive a wedge between us. I know her far better than you ever could.”
Evangeline motioned to her guards. “Eliminate her.”
“Kill me?” Suzy sneered, cracking her knuckles as she prepared to defend herself. “Let’s see if your men have what it takes.”
Just as Suzy moved to strike, Evangeline’s phone rang. She glanced at the screen, her lips tightening at the sight of the caller ID. Without a word, she stepped aside to answer.
Suzy’s instincts flared. If her hunch was correct, the caller could only be Simon.
It was evident from the shift in Evangeline’s expression that whatever Simon had said unsettled her.
