As Suzy was deep in thought, her phone rang again.
“Miss Frost, I heard you failed.”
Suzy fell silent.
Sure enough, every move she made was under the woman’s watch. Anything she did seemed to reach the woman immediately.
“I may be skilled, but I’m just one person. Evangeline has so many shadow guards around her. Sorry if my performance didn’t meet your expectations.”
A cold laugh echoed through the phone. “Suzy Frost, do you take me for a fool? Is that why you think you can keep playing me over and over again?”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Suzy asked, feigning anger. “You forced me to kill Evangeline, and I did as you asked. I just didn’t succeed! I’m only human, not some god who can do the impossible.”
“I told you to kill Evangeline, not to make a grand spectacle out of it! You did this on purpose, didn’t you?”
This time, it was Suzy’s turn to laugh coldly. “I thought you were in a hurry. And I figured you’d go after the people around me again if I delayed. So, I decided to act quickly. I just underestimated Evangeline’s defenses.”
“You know exactly what you’re doing,” the woman hissed, her fury boiling over. “You think that by deliberately exposing me, you can use Evangeline against me? Fine! Let her come after me. I wasn’t afraid of her before, and I’m certainly not afraid of her now.
“I’m curious to see how Evangeline plans to deal with me!”
Her tone was dripping with arrogance. It was clear she wasn’t the least bit afraid of Evangeline.
Suzy briefly considered probing further to confirm whether the woman was actually Helena, but she hesitated..
This woman was too ruthless. If she pushed her too far, there was no telling what terrifying thing she might do next.

“That’s why I think you’d better stop contacting me. For all we know, this call might already be tapped. If she traces it back to you, things could get messy.”
“Let her come,” the woman scoffed, defiant as ever.
Yet, no sooner had she said it than she abruptly hung up the phone.
Suzy stared at her phone. “Seriously?”
The woman’s actions betrayed her bravado–she wasn’t as fearless of Evangeline as she pretended to be.
“The more Suzy thought about it, the more confident she became that the woman might be Helena. If Helena had faked her death, it made perfect sense for her to fear Evangeline discovering the truth.”
However, something about Evangeline didn’t add up. From the way she acted, it was clear she knew who was behind everything, yet she continued to keep it a secret. Why?

Almost immediately, her phone rang. Dylan’s voice was serious. “Are you certain?”
“What? Don’t trust my skills?” Suzy replied.
“Sure, Western medical equipment might look more advanced, but traditional methods are just as reliable. If there’s any issue with the results, it would be with the sample you
brought me, not my technique!”
