Chapter 0482
“Who do you think you are? You have no right to speak to me like that. Get Evangeline out here now!” Suzy demanded, her tone sharp and domineering.
“How dare you utter our mistress‘ name so casually? Who do you think you are?” the lead guard retorted. “Seize her! Let’s see which fool dares to go against our mistress!”
The guards immediately moved to grab Suzy, but she only sneered, her confidence unwavering. “You think you can stop me?”
Without wasting any more time, Suzy leaped gracefully onto the second floor, landing directly outside Evangeline’s room. Without hesitation, she kicked the door open and shouted, “Evangeline, your time is up!”
Without missing a beat, she charged toward the figure lying on the bed, knife raised high. Her blade glinted in the dim light as she aimed straight for Evangeline’s heart.
In a split second, Evangeline rolled off the bed, landing on the opposite side, her expression stern. “Who sent you?”
“Who sent me is none of your concern. All you need to know is that I’m here for your life.”
With a chilling smile, Suzy added, “I’m on a tight schedule, so if you have any last words, now’s the time to say them.‘
Evangeline let out a quiet laugh, her gaze sharp. “Only someone who hates me deeply would go as far as hiring the world’s top assassin, Suzy Frost. And there’s only one person in this world who despises me that much…”
Suzy stood still, waiting for Evangeline to finish her sentence, but instead, Evangeline fell silent, her eyes calculating.
“So, you seem to know a lot–not just who I am, but also who’s behind this. That’s good. At least you won’t die clueless.”
“True,” Evangeline conceded with a faint, amused smile. “But I’m afraid you’ll be
disappointed. Taking my life isn’t as simple as you might think–not even for someone of your caliber, Suzy Frost.”
As her words trailed off, Evangeline snapped her fingers. In an instant, a group of highly trained shadow guards stormed into the room, surrounding Suzy.
Evangeline tilted her head slightly, her eyes gleaming with confidence. “Miss Frost, I assume General Wright isn’t aware of what you’re doing here, is he? What a coincidence. He’s actually a guest at my estate today. Why don’t I call him over so the two of you can have a little reunion?”
“I have nothing to do with him anymore, and I’m not interested in meeting my ex-

husband,” Suzy retorted sharply, making the first move without hesitation. “If you’re afraid of dying, just admit it!”
“Afraid of dying?” Evangeline chuckled softly, her expression calm and fearless, as if life and death were mere trivialities. “The only reason I suggested meeting him was to give you one last chance, out of respect for the fact that you and Dylan were once married.”
“How generous of you,” Suzy sneered, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “Do you really think you can do anything to me? You’re banking on these people to protect you?”
She scoffed, her confidence unwavering. “In this world, if I, Suzy Frost, decide someone is going to die, there’s no chance they’ll live to see another day.”
As she spoke, Suzy lunged forward again, her blade aimed straight at Evangeline.
But the shadow guards weren’t amateurs. Each of them was highly skilled, and before Suzy could get close, they had already intercepted her. Surrounding her once again, they formed an impenetrable wall between her and Evangeline.
Within moments, Suzy found herself locked in combat with the guards.
Her eyes narrowed as she quickly assessed the situation. After exchanging several fierce blows, she intentionally began to falter, making it seem like she couldn’t handle being outnumbered. Pretending to succumb to the overwhelming odds, she allowed herself to be subdued.
This way, it wouldn’t appear as if she’d gone back on her word. If she couldn’t kill Evangeline because she was outmatched, then it wasn’t her fault. She could hardly be expected to succeed when she couldn’t even protect herself, let alone eliminate her target.
