The servant who had been relentlessly targeting Suzy fell silent.
In truth, she had done it on purpose, her goal being to drive Suzy away. Orders had come from above, stating that Suzy must never discover the connection between her and Evangeline. As a result, she had to come up with every possible way to stop Suzy,
That was why she deliberately made disparaging remarks about Suzy in front of Evangeline, hoping to sow doubt. What she hadn’t expected was that before Suzy could leave, Dylan would arrive.
Dealing with Suzy alone was already a challenge; adding Dylan into the mix made it nearly impossible.

Dylan said nothing more and simply closed the door.
As the door shut, Evangeline’s expression darkened. She turned to the servant who had been accusing Suzy and said coldly, “It seems you don’t understand the most basic rules. Don’t bother coming in tomorrow.”
The servant froze, speechless.
Suzy, of course, wasn’t blind to the fact that the servant had deliberately caused trouble for her. She didn’t need to think too hard to figure out who was behind it.
There was only one person who could orchestrate this–that lunatic. She wouldn’t suspect anyone else.
It was clear that the lunatic was keeping an uncomfortably close eye on her every move.
Just as Suzy expected, her suspicions were confirmed the moment she left Evangeline’s estate. The lunatic called her.
“Miss Frost, your subordinate is still waiting for you. Have you decided when you’ll come to collect her?” The woman’s soft, threatening tone dripped with malice. “If you don’t plan to retrieve her, just let me know. I’ll be sure to pass the message along to her, so she doesn’t wait endlessly.”
“As I said before, if you want me to eliminate Evangeline, I can,” Suzy replied coldly, not wasting words. “But first, tell me what exactly is my connection to her?”

Just as Suzy thought the call would end, the woman added in an icy tone, “Oh, and pass along a message to Mr. Wright: He’d best stay out of matters that don’t concern him. With his legs in that condition, he should focus on his recovery.
“After all, his grandmother isn’t getting any younger–imagine the heartbreak of having to bury her own grandson. That would be a real tragedy.”
