The sudden sensation in his hand finally snapped Suzy back to her senses. Like she had touched a burning coal, she quickly pulled her hand away, pushed Dylan aside, and jumped
out of his arms in a rush.
“Well, uh, it’s getting late. You should rest early, I–I’ll head back now!”
In her entire life, Suzy had never stuttered before.
Without waiting for Dylan to say anything, she fled his room as if her life depended on it.
However, as awkward as it already was, things only got worse.
Still flustered and not knowing what to do, she opened the door, only to run into a servant who looked utterly stunned.
“What are you doing here…” the servant asked, pointing incredulously at Dylan’s room
Suzy’s face grew even redder. “I, um, I was just passing by, and Mr. Wright said he needed some hot water, so I brought it over.”
“Just delivering hot water? Then why is your face so red?” the servant persisted, clearly unwilling to drop the matter. “Lena, don’t forget you have a boyfriend. He’s waited for you for so many years! I can’t believe you’d do something like this behind his back.”
“I was only delivering hot water. What exactly did I do?” Suzy retorted, fuming inside. Even if something had happened, it would have been a complete accident–an absolute accident!
“If you didn’t do anything, then why is your face so red?” The servant refused to let up, acting as though Suzy were a shameless flirt.
“Does my face being red automatically mean I’ve done something to betray my boyfriend?

almost burst out laughing in anger. “Can’t I just be feeling hot?”
“You’re just delivering water. How could you possibly get that hot?”
“The water was too hot, alright?”

“It’s the middle of winter!”
The two of them bickered back and forth, quickly drawing the attention of others, including Evangeline.
“What’s going on here?”
As soon as Evangeline approached, the servant immediately pointed at Suzy, accusing her, “Madam, she’s seducing your esteemed guest!
“I’m not! I didn’t!” Suzy hurriedly denied it. “If you don’t believe me, you can ask Mr. Wright. I was only delivering hot water, nothing else! Besides, Mr. Wright is way out of my league. Why would he even look at me?”
Evangeline glanced at Suzy. She didn’t say anything, but the sharp glint in her eyes made Suzy feel guilty.
Damn Dylan.
Couldn’t he hear how loud they were? Was the soundproofing in this place that good?
The truth was that Dylan had heard everything. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to come out- he simply couldn’t. His face was even redder than Suzy’s, and stepping out now would only make things harder to explain.
He quickly wheeled himself to the bathroom, splashed his face with cold water, and only emerged after ensuring his complexion was back to normal.
As soon as Dylan appeared, Suzy immediately shot him pleading looks, silently begging him to clear her name.
But Dylan didn’t even glance at her.
Instead, he turned to Evangeline and asked, “Ms. Ford, what seems to be the matter?”
Suzy spoke up before Evangeline could respond. “Mr. Wright, could you kindly explain exactly what I just did to you?”
“I needed a cup of hot water, and you happened to pass by and help me. Is there…” Dylan shifted his gaze to Evangeline, his tone calm as he asked, “Anything inappropriate about that?”
