Chapter 0474
“As the saying goes, once is enough when it comes to suffering. I think my boss would be much better off steering clear of yours.”
“That’s not fair,” Desmond countered. “My boss was deceived by Anne back then. If it weren’t for her manipulation, he never would’ve treated Mrs. Wright that way…”
“Even without Anne, your boss won’t have trusted mine either,” Allen shot back.
The two kept trading barbs, neither willing to back down, their argument growing louder and more heated until their faces were flushed.
Suzy, standing outside, could hear every word.
Pressing her fingers to her temples in frustration, she called out, “Allen, go pick up Riley.”
Allen bumped into Desmond as he stepped out of the restroom. “I was going to anyway! It’s Desmond who kept blocking me!” he complained, shooting Desmond a pointed glare.
Desmond followed him out, flustered. “That’s not true! I was just—”
“We’re done. Your boss and I are over!” Suzy cut in sharply before turning and walking away without waiting for a response.
Desmond stood there, stunned. “What does she mean by ‘over‘?”
Allen shrugged, giving him a knowing smirk. “Exactly what it sounds like!” He poked Desmond in the chest. “Some things just can’t be forced, so don’t waste your energy trying.
“You-“Desmond started, but Allen had already sauntered off, humming as he headed to pick up Riley.
However, when Allen arrived at the meeting spot, Riley was nowhere to be found.
He tried calling her, but the line went unanswered.
Realizing something was wrong, Allen quickly called Suzy. “Boss, Riley’s gone!”
“What happened?”

“I spoke to her on the phone while I was on my way, but when I got here, she was nowhere to be found, and now she’s not answering her phone!” Allen’s voice was full of concern. Could it be that woman…?”
“Don’t panic, I’ll track Riley’s phone right away!”
All her subordinates‘ phones were equipped with a GPS system to ensure their location could be pinpointed in case of danger.

Suzy quickly activated the device, but there was no signal. She tried several times, yet not a single trace of a connection appeared.
Just then, her phone lit up with a call from an unknown number.
Frowning deeply, Suzy answered immediately. The moment the call connected, Riley’s voice came through, tense and hurried, “Boss, no matter what they say, don’t-”
The phone was snatched away mid–sentence. Riley’s voice faded into muffled static, and though Suzy strained to hear, no other voices came through.
The silence dragged on for two or three minutes before a voice finally broke it.
“Miss Frost, your subordinate was waiting for you all alone, and I couldn’t bear to leave her there, so I invited her over as my guest,” the woman on the other end said smugly. “But it seems she’s not quite comfortable here. Why don’t you come pick her up?”
The voice was unmistakable–it was her. The triumph laced in every word was impossible to miss.
Suzy’s eyes narrowed dangerously, her tone colder than ice. “If you so much as touch a hair on Riley’s head, I’ll make sure there’s no place on earth for you to hide!”
She hadn’t expected this woman to go after Riley, of all people.
“Now, now, Miss Frost, what’s with the hostility? I saw her all alone and worried for her safety. The security around here isn’t great, and in a foreign place, anything could happen. “I brought her here out of kindness, but you clearly don’t appreciate it. And you know, the thing I hate most is being falsely accused. Since you’re so quick to blame me… perhaps I should go ahead and live up to it!”
