Chapter 0456
“She’d find out eventually,” Dylan said. “Grandma has been through a lot over the years; she’s not as fragile as you think.”
Suzy handed him the glass of milk she had poured. “It seems like you’ve made up your mind. If that’s the case, I won’t stop you.
If he wanted to leave, why insist on holding him back?
Dylan gave Suzy a complex look. “Thank you for taking care of me these past few days.”
“You’re welcome,” Suzy replied expressionlessly, pointing to the breakfast on the nightstand. “Just finish your meal and leave it there. I’ll go prepare your medicine.”
With that, she turned and left the room.
As he stared at the closed door, Dylan’s eyes were filled with pain.
Suzy was willing to give him another chance, and he should have cherished it. It was what he had always dreamed of. But…
With all the tendons in his hands and feet severed, even if he could recover, he would never be the same. He could no longer stand as her protector, so why hold her back from a brighter future?
After breakfast, Desmond arrived on time to pick up Dylan. Just as Suzy had said, she didn’t stop him. Handing the medicine she had prepared to Desmond, she instructed, Give them to him on time. If there are any issues, contact me immediately.”
“Understood.”
Even as Dylan left, Suzy didn’t say much to him. When he bid her farewell, she merely responded indifferently, “Mm.”
Seeing Suzy act this way left Dylan feeling deeply unsettled.
Desmond noticed Dylan’s unease. Once they were in the car, he cautiously asked, “Sir, it’s obvious the lady’s attitude toward you has changed. Why not take this opportunity to win her back completely?”
Dylan gave a bitter smile. “Do you think someone like me can still bring her happiness?”
“Why not?” Desmond encouraged. “With her exceptional medical skills, she’ll surely help
you recover.”
“And what if she can’t?” Dylan countered. “There’s no future for us. Some things just aren’t meant to be–it’s fate.”
“Sir, you can’t think so negatively-”

“Enough!” Dylan interrupted him. “Don’t say things you shouldn’t in front of Suzy.”
Desmond pressed his lips together. “Understood.”
Dylan didn’t go to the company but returned to the family estate first.
As Dylan had told Suzy, it was only a matter of time before Grandma found out.
The moment he returned to the estate, both Grace and Diana broke down in tears at the sight of him in the wheelchair.
“What happened to you?” Grace cried, nearly fainting from distress.
“Grandma, don’t worry…” Dylan reassured her before explaining everything that had happened.
After hearing the full story, Grace sobbed even harder. “Who did this?”
Dylan’s brows knitted tightly, and a cold, murderous glint flashed in his eyes. “It’s likely the same person who drugged me three years ago.”
This was also the main reason he chose to distance himself from Suzy.
He had a clear sense that those behind this incident had no connection to Claude.
If it were Claude, things would be manageable. But if it was truly those same people from three years ago, there was no telling what might happen in the future.
He didn’t want to drag Suzy into it.
With this in mind, Dylan turned to Grace and Diana and said, “From now on, don’t contact Suzy anymore. Let her completely distance herself from our lives. It’s the only way to ensure her safety.”
What Dylan didn’t realize was that, before he left, Suzy had installed a listening device on his wheelchair.
Every word he said was heard by Suzy with absolute clarity!
