The man in black remained unfazed. “Oh, I forgot to mention, Miss Frost, I’ve been immune to poisons since childhood. Ordinary toxins have no effect on me. If you want to take me down, you’ll need something far more exotic.”
Suzy was speechless.
It seemed Claude’s men weren’t to be underestimated. If poison wouldn’t work, then…
Without hesitation, Suzy lunged forward, her movements swift and precise. She snatched the blade from his hand and swung it directly at his head.
Suzy’s strike was fast, but the man was no amateur. He dodged in the nick of time, sidestepping the lethal blow.
Seeing his evasion, Suzy smirked coldly. “Not bad.”
“Of course. Knowing you would be coming, I made sure to prepare thoroughly. I couldn’t risk disappointing you.”
“Let’s see just how skilled you really are,” Suzy shot back, swinging the blade at him again.
Her movements were even faster this time, and the man barely managed to dodge.
But Suzy didn’t let up. She pressed her attack, slashing repeatedly, each strike quicker and more relentless than the last.
Even the most skilled couldn’t evade every blow forever. Soon, her blade found its mark. His arm, shoulder, and leg were all struck, leaving him bleeding from several wounds.
The man’s demeanor grew darker, his eyes narrowing beneath his hood. “Suzy Frost, I underestimated you.”
“Too bad it’s too late for regrets!” Suzy snarled, bringing the blade down again. “You can explain your mistakes to the devil!”
Seeing death closing in, the man’s expression hardened. In a desperate move, he quickly hurled a knife straight at Dylan.
“Watch out!” Suzy shouted, her voice sharp with alarm.
Dylan tried to move, but his body was riddled with injuries, and his movements were sluggish. Dodging wasn’t going to be easy.
Dylan was already covered in wounds, and if he were hurt again, it could very well cost him his life.
Suzy had no choice but to abandon her attack on the man and sprint toward Dylan.

tightly as she twisted out of harm’s way. With a swift motion, she used her blade to knock the flying knife to the ground.
She braced herself for the man to take advantage of the moment to strike, but instead, he dashed toward the door. Without hesitation, he flung it open and slipped out, slamming it shut behind him.

A second later, the door was locked from the outside, and his mocking voice
rang out. Dylan Wright, haven’t you always longed for Suzy Frost, only to be left wanting? Today, I’ll help you out by sending you both to hell together!”
His voice was followed by the sound of orders being shouted. “Pour gasoline around the building. They should be feeling cold. Let’s make sure Mr. Wright and Miss Frost are warm enough!”
Outside, chaos erupted as the acrid smell of gasoline filled the air.
Moments later, the man called out again, his tone mocking. “Dylan, Suzy, farewell!”
Almost immediately, the flicker of firelight appeared outside, the flames spreading rapidly. Dylan clenched his jaw, his expression twisting in anger and desperation. He turned to Suzy, his voice urgent. “Get out of here while you still can!”
“I already told you that we leave together,” Suzy snapped, her brows furrowing.
“I’m too injured to make it out. I’d only slow you down,” Dylan said weakly, his strength waning further. “Listen to me, Suzy–leave me behind.”
“If you can’t say anything useful, then shut your mouth!” Suzy shot back, refusing to tolerate his defeatist attitude. “Dylan Wright, haven’t you always wanted me to give you another chance? Well, if the two of us make it out of here alive, I’ll reconsider our relationship.”
