“Yes, it’s me!” Suzy said softly. “I’m sorry I came late.”
Dylan was speechless.
Seeing the faint redness in Suzy’s eyes, Dylan finally accepted that what he was seeing was real. This wasn’t some hallucination brought on by his longing for her. It was truly Suzy standing before him.
After nearly two months of relentless torment, he had thought he would never get the chance to see her again. But against all odds, here she was.
“Suzy…” Dylan’s hoarse voice called her name. “This place isn’t safe. You need to leave now!”
Almost as if on cue, the open door suddenly slammed shut.
“Go!” Dylan growled, his voice desperate. “Get out of here while you still can!”
“We’re leaving together!” Suzy refused to budge and reached out to start removing the iron hooks binding him. “If it hurts, just scream!”
“Don’t worry about me!” Dylan insisted. “Get out of here now!”
“Shut up!” Suzy yelled back. “Dylan Wright, after more than a month apart, you’ve only gotten better at spouting nonsense!”
Dylan opened his mouth to argue, but before he could, a voice sounded from outside the door.
“Exactly. Mr. Wright used to be a man of few words, but now he seems to enjoy, saying useless things. Then again, it’s no wonder. It’s all because of how much he cares about Miss Frost.‘

The voice chuckled mockingly before continuing, “He cares so much that he willingly allowed himself to be treated like a dog, all for you.”
“For me?” Suzy frowned, unable to understand why they would say such a thing. “Of course. He had a chance to escape, but our master told him that if he did, you would be the one to suffer instead. Your life would become a living hell. And so, the once fearless Dylan Wright chose to stay behind, enduring inhuman torture willingly all to protect you.”
“Is what he said true?” Suzy stared at Dylan in disbelief, her voice trembling. “Say something!”
She had thought he wasn’t a match for Claude, that he’d been overpowered…
But now it was clear. He wasn’t defeated; he chose this for her.

Seeing the conflicting emotions in Suzy’s expression, Dylan frowned, his brows knitting tightly. “There’s not much I can do for you, but I won’t let you be dragged into this because of me.”
“Dylan…” Suzy’s tears finally broke free. “You idiot! What about Grandma and Diana? If something happens to you, what will they do?”
“I can’t think about that right now,” Dylan replied, his gaze burning as it locked onto hers. “You’ve endured so much all these years. Now that your revenge is complete, all I want is for you to be safe and happy.”
“Dylan Wright, do you think so little of me? Do you think I’m so weak that just anyone could hurt me?”
“I know how strong you are, but even the smallest chance…” Dylan forced a bitter smile. “I can’t take that risk. Even if there’s only a one–in–a–million chance you’d be in danger, I won’t let it happen!”
At that moment, Suzy felt the full weight of Dylan’s devotion to her.
For her, he was willing to risk everything–his grandmother, his sister, even his own life.
Her heart twisted painfully, and just as Suzy opened her mouth to speak, a figure emerged/ from the shadows.
A man dressed in black, wielding a sharp blade, lunged toward her from behind.
In the split second before the blade struck, Dylan broke free from the iron chains with sheer force and pushed Suzy aside.
