Suzy quickly made her way to the wine cellar described by the man, heading straight to the back where a large iron cage stood.
Inside was indeed a man, but his face was so disfigured it was impossible to tell who he
was.
Suzy’s heart sank as she scanned his frame. One glance was enough to confirm it wasn’t Dylan.
Not him. Not again.
Every lead had brought hope, only to end in crushing disappointment. For both Suzy and Victor, the emotional toll was unbearable.
Victor snapped, his frustration spilling over. “Where the hell is Dylan?”
Suzy, desperate for answers, turned back to Selena. “Are there others? Is there anyone else here?”
“There’s no one else!” Selena answered quickly. “It’s been him all along. I told you–he’s the only one here! The person you’re looking for isn’t with me, but you won’t believe me no matter how many times I say it!”
Maya wasn’t buying it. “If that’s true, then why were you so panicked earlier? Selena, you’re lying. He’s here. You’ve just hidden him somewhere else.”
Selena glared at Maya with defiance. “Don’t you dare accuse me! For all I know, you’re the one hiding him! Maybe you’re just trying to use this woman to get rid of me, so no one will ever compare the two of us again!”
Maya rolled her eyes, her disdain clear. “Are you out of your mind? If I had him, do you think I’d be wasting my time arguing with you? Let’s face it—you just don’t want to let him go,
do you? Fine. Go ahead and hide him. But you’d better make sure no one finds him, because if I do…”
“Then search!” Selena shot back, her voice rising. “Go ahead! Look all you want! If you can find him here, I’ll let you do whatever you want to me!”
Selena turned to Suzy, her tone steady despite her frustration. “Believe me or not, it doesn’t matter. He’s not here. You’re wasting your time.”
“Is that so?” Suzy’s face remained unreadable as she gave Selena one final, piercing glance before motioning to her team and walking away
“You’re leaving?” Maya ran after her, disbelief written across her face. “We haven’t found him yet–how can you just walk away?”

“I’m telling you, Selena Thomas is as sly as they come,” Maya grumbled. “She’s way too clever for her own good. She must’ve hidden him somewhere ahead of time.”
Suzy stopped in her tracks, turning to look at Maya. “Besides Selena, who else do you think might be involved?”
“No one,” Maya replied after a moment of thought. “Around here, she’s the only one who’d dare cross me. That’s why I’m sure she’s the one hiding him. I’ll have my people search every one of her properties. If they find anything, I’ll let you know right away.
“Thank you.”
After Suzy left, Selena finally exhaled, the tension draining from her face. She walked over to the wine rack, placing her hand on one of the bottles. With a subtle twist, the rack shifted, revealing a hidden passage behind it.
Selena glanced around cautiously before stepping into the secret room.
Back at the hotel, Suzy and Victor were worn out from the day’s fruitless search. Suzy rubbed her temples, her exhaustion evident. “Keep someone monitoring Selena. Don’t let her out of sight.”
“You still think Dylan is with her?” Victor frowned. “We saw that man–it wasn’t Dylan. I think we might’ve been wrong again.”
Suzy didn’t respond directly, merely saying, “I’m going to my room.”
The weight of everything felt crushing. A profound exhaustion wrapped around Suzy, draining her both physically and emotionally.
As she tried to find some semblance of rest, her phone buzzed. It was Grace.
“Suzy, how’s that rascal doing these days? Is he behaving himself?” Grace’s voice carried its usual warmth.
“He’s doing well, Grandma,” Suzy replied, her voice steady despite the ache in her heart. His recovery is coming along, but he hasn’t fully healed yet. Once he’s completely better, we’ll come back.”
