They had thought following that man would lead them to Dylan’s whereabouts, but the next day, he mysteriously disappeared.
The agreed–upon meeting time came and went yet the man never showed up.
Suzy sent people to his home, but after searching for hours, they found no sign of him. When they questioned his neighbors, they learned there had been strange noises coming from his place in the middle of the night.
Suzy’s heart sank–things didn’t look good for him. Their opponents clearly had been keeping a close watch.
This incident also made Suzy realize just how difficult it would be to find Dylan. If they wanted to uncover his location, they would have to start with the man’s disappearance. Whoever had orchestrated this was bound to leave behind some clues.
But Suzy underestimated the methods of the people behind the scenes.
After several days of searching, there was still no trace of the young man, or anything related to his disappearance. It was as if he had vanished into thin air.
“What do we do now?” Victor asked, clearly frustrated. “The other side knows our every move. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to stay this well–hidden.”
“Exactly,” Suzy said, her voice steady. “They’ve been watching us from the beginning. Every step we’ve taken has been under their surveillance.”
Fighting an enemy lurking in the shadows was the most challenging.
Suzy’s gaze darkened. “Pack up. We’re leaving today.”
“Leaving?” Victor asked, puzzled. “What about Dylan? We’re just giving up?”
“We are leaving,” Suzy replied, carefully concealing the sharp glint in her eyes. Victor studied her for a moment before realization dawned. “You’re planning to-” Suzy shot him a warning glare. “Don’t say what shouldn’t be said.”
Victor immediately fell silent, then instructed his team to pack up and make it look like they were genuinely heading back home. The group moved in a large procession toward the airport, putting on an elaborate display of disappointment and defeat.
In the bustling airport terminal, Victor stood in the middle of the crowd, sighing repeatedly. “We’ve been searching for so long and haven’t found a single lead. This just proves he’s not here. Let’s move on to another location. Staying here any longer is just a waste of time!”

Suzy mirrored his demeanor, looking heartbroken. “Yes, let’s go.”
As they had anticipated, someone was indeed watching their every move. Seeing them leave at last, the spies finally felt at ease.
On the plane, Suzy turned to Victor and said, “Once we land in the neighboring city, I’ll disguise myself and return alone. You stay there and wait for me. I’ll contact you if I find anything.”
Victor looked uneasy. “We don’t know the full extent of their capabilities yet. Are you sure you can handle this alone? Let me come with you. I’ll disguise myself too.”
“No need,” Suzy replied firmly. “The fewer people, the better. I’ll go alone.”
“Alright then,” Victor conceded, though reluctantly. “But stay in constant contact. If you find anything, let me know immediately, and I’ll head over right away.”
“Got it.”
After arriving in the neighboring city, Suzy carefully disguised herself in preparation for her return. Just as she was about to leave, a thought struck her, and she asked Victor, ” How’s Nadia doing lately?”
The mention of Nadia immediately darkened Victor’s expression. “How she’s doing has nothing to do with me! Suzy, don’t bring her up in front of me again. I barely even know her!”
“You really don’t know what happened to her?”
“Oh, I know,” Victor said through gritted teeth. “I know all too well. The only problem is I found out too late. If I’d known sooner, I never would have-”
With a loud bang, Victor slammed his hand on the table. “Damn Nadia! She lied to me for so long!”
