“Avalon dared to hide this from me?”
When had this happened? Avalon had kept this from him for five years!
No. It couldn’t be true.
“Avalon loved you so much,” Suzy said gently. So much that she did countless things for you without ever asking for anything in return. Claude, stop holding onto what you shouldn’t. Live. Avalon is gone, and your daughter needs you.”
“Needs me…” Claude’s brow furrowed deeply. A bitter laugh escaped his lips. “She’s just a child. She can live with anyone who takes her in. If you really feel sorry for her, Suzy, take her in yourself.
“As for me…
Before Suzy could react, Claude yanked the knife from his chest and drove it back in again, deeper this time.
“Suzy, without your love, I’m nothing more than a walking corpse. I’ve spent so many years chasing you, scheming, and sacrificing, only to end up with nothing. I’m tired. So tired.”
His voice weakened, his breaths shallow, as his life slipped away. Then, as though struck by a final thought, he used what little strength remained to say:
“By the way… it wasn’t me who risked my life to save you. It was Dylan. The first time… and the second. He was the man in the mask.”
Suzy was speechless.
With that, Claude took his last breath, never revealing Dylan’s whereabouts.
The world was vast, and finding one person seemed almost impossible.
Suzy had been searching for what felt like forever. The island had been scoured multiple times, turned inside out, yet there was no trace of Dylan.
Claude’s dying words echoed in her mind, twisting her heart with guilt and pain.
So,
it wasn’t her imagination after all.
From the very first encounter with the masked man, she had sensed something familiar about him. And now, she knew–he really had been Dylan.
He had risked his life for her twice, never once revealing himself.

He had risked his life for her three times. This time, with his whereabouts unknown and his fate uncertain, it was all because of her.
The more Suzy thought about it, the more her heart ached.
So, this was how he loved her–hidden, silent, and selfless.
“Dylan, no matter where you are, I’ll find you!
As long as he was alive, she would search the ends of the earth to bring him back.
Leaving the affairs of the organization in Allen and Riley’s hands, Suzy set out on her mission to find Dylan.
Her first stop was a city near the island.
The island itself had been searched countless times, with nothing to show for it except the secret passage Claude had mentioned. That only confirmed her suspicion–Dylan likely wasn’t there at all.
This wasn’t a blind search, though. The city was the closest to the island and, according to her investigation, was one of the places under Claude’s control.
If Claude had handed Dylan over to someone, it was likely one of his men in that area.
Determined, Suzy went straight to the heart of her lead–an old hideout belonging to one of Claude’s subordinates.
The man was a local, rugged and intimidating in appearance, but Suzy didn’t flinch. She pressed the barrel of her gun firmly against his forehead.
“I’m sure you already know why I’m here,” she said, her voice cold and steady. “If you value your life, you’d better cooperate.”
The man didn’t even blink. “You’re here for Dylan Wright.”
“So, you do know where he is.” Suzy’s eyes narrowed dangerously.
“Yes, I know where he is,” the man admitted with a smirk. “But I’m not telling you.”
“Is that so?” Suzy’s voice dropped to an icy calm, the chill in her gaze cutting like a blade. “ Then let’s see how long that defiance lasts.”
