Dylan quickly asked, “You seem upset. Is something wrong?”
Suzy finally looked up. “Not at all. I just don’t like talking while I’m eating.”
Dylan pressed his lips together and said nothing more.
After breakfast, Suzy headed back to the pharmacy while Dylan left the house.
He’d told Suzy he was going to the office, but that wasn’t the truth. Instead, he called Diana and arranged to meet her at a dessert shop.
The invitation gave Diana an uneasy feeling. Her brother never suggested meeting in a place like that.
Still, she went.
When they met, Dylan greeted her with a warm smile. “Sister, I got you your favorite- strawberry mousse. Give it a try and see if this place’s is any good. If you like it, I’ll bring you back here more often.”
“Alright.” It was the first time he’d ever called her “Sister” so affectionately. Normally, he just used her name, no nicknames or terms of endearment.
Her brother had always been the classic no–nonsense type, never indulging in the whole ” older brother and younger sister” dynamic. He hadn’t called her “sister” since they were
kids.
Diana studied his expression carefully, the unease growing as she watched him. Something felt off, but she kept her thoughts to herself and sat down across from him.

“If you like it, I’ll bring you here more often,” Dylan said with a smile. Then, as if testing the waters, he asked, “Do you think I’ve changed lately?”
