Chapter 0405
After all, he was a grown man. Even if he went missing in the middle of the night, it wasn’t necessarily cause for alarm. Perhaps he had some urgent matters to attend to. With a corporation as big as Wright Corporation, it wasn’t realistic to leave everything entirely in Desmond’s hands.
But then again, what could be so urgent that he didn’t even have time to let someone know? Especially since his phone kept going unanswered.
Driving around Hillside Villa, Suzy searched the surrounding area but found no sign of Dylan. Unease crept into her mind. While Claude might no longer be a threat, Dylan still had other enemies. What if one of them had come for him?
Shaking her head, Suzy dismissed the thought. Dylan’s enemies wouldn’t dare encroach on her territory. Anyone planning to make a move would at least investigate her background first and think twice about the consequences.
Then a troubling thought struck her: what if Claude wasn’t actually dead?
After all, they had never found his body. That island was his private property, a place he
knew better than anyone. Escaping would have been child’s play for him.
Moreover, he was very familiar with the layout of Hillside Villa. While others might struggle to infiltrate the estate, he could likely manage it with ease.
If that were true, Dylan’s disappearance might be connected to him.
Suzy immediately called Allen and Riley, instructing them to mobilize more people and intensify the search efforts.
The group spent almost the entire night scouring the surrounding area for miles, but there was no trace of Dylan.
Just as everyone began to suspect that Claude might indeed still be alive, Dylan unexpectedly returned on his own.
The moment Suzy saw Dylan, she scanned him from head to toe. Seeing that he was
unharmed, her anger flared instantly. “Dylan, could you at least let someone know next
time you
decide to go somewhere?”
They had spent the entire night searching high and low, even suspecting Claude might still be alive. But here he was, perfectly fine. Their worry clearly had been unnecessary, their efforts wasted. It wasn’t Claude’s fault at all–it was Dylan who had snuck off without a
word.
The more Suzy thought about it, the angrier she got. “What do you take this place for? A hotel? Come and go as you please?”

Dylan, unfazed by her scolding, remained calm and unruffled. Without blinking, he said, “I saw a shadow outside my window in the middle of the night, so I went to investigate. I forgot my phone.”
“A shadow?” Suzy’s anger subsided by half in an instant. “Are you sure it wasn’t just your imagination? Perhaps, you were you half–asleep?”
“It wasn’t. I hadn’t gone to sleep yet at that point.‘
“Why weren’t you resting? Didn’t I tell you to get some sleep?” Suzy’s expression shifted slightly.
Then again, it was fortunate he hadn’t been asleep. If there really had been a shadow as he claimed, and he’d been unaware, things could have turned out much worse,
Still, he wasn’t that weak, was he? Even in his current state, poisoned as he was, he remained the leader of the Yellowtail Squadron. It wouldn’t be so easy for someone to take him by surprise.
But who exactly was this shadow he mentioned?
Suzy had checked the surveillance footage last night and found no signs of anyone entering or leaving the property. There hadn’t even been any footage of Dylan leaving.
If the intruder wasn’t Claude, they must have been extraordinarily skilled to bypass the security measures she’d set up, including her firewalls.
Could one of Dylan’s enemies have tracked him down after all?
