As Claude raised his gun to fire at Dylan, the sound of helicopter blades filled the air. It was clear without looking that Suzy was here.
Claude’s gaze darkened, but then his lips curled into a chilling smile. “Dylan, I know you care more about Suzy than your own life. I wonder, though, is she really on that helicopter that was about to land?
“Maybe I should test it with a missile. What do you think?”
“Claude, stop beating around the bush and say what you want already!”
Whether Suzy was on that helicopter or not, it wasn’t a risk he could take. After all, it might just as well be his closest allies, Victor and Graham.
Claude smirked. “Fine, no need for games. Let’s make a deal. Your life in exchange for everyone on that helicopter. It’s a fair trade, isn’t it?”
It was indeed a deal that left no room for loss, but….
“Have you made up your mind yet? My patience is limited. I’ll give you three more seconds
“You should save those seconds for yourself.”
Before Dylan could respond, Suzy’s voice rang out from behind him.
Claude froze, stunned to see her standing there. “How… how are you here?”
“How did I get here so fast, or why am I not with them?” Suzy’s tone was flat, her gaze unwavering as she stared at Claude. “Claude, whatever grudges exist between us, let’s settle it ourselves. Leave the innocent out of this.”
“Innocent?” Claude scoffed, pointing at Dylan. “There’s no one more guilty in this world than him.
“If it weren’t for him, you wouldn’t have ignored me. He took what should have been mine -he took you! And worse, he destroyed everything we had!”
In Claude’s twisted mind, Dylan was the root of all his suffering. Without Dylan, Suzy would never have turned away from him. If it weren’t for Dylan, he would have been the one to rescue Suzy three years ago. He would have been the one to share that fateful night with her.
In his eyes, Dylan had ruined everything. Everything that should have been his.
Suzy met Claude’s obsessive gaze and spoke calmly, “Even without Dylan, there would never have been anything between us. I only see you as a brother. You’re no different from my three biological brothers.”

Those words hit Claude like a thunderbolt, the ones he least wanted to hear. “I don’t want to be your brother! I want to be your man- the one who

There was no reasoning with him. Suzy stopped wasting her breath and turned her attention to Dylan instead. “Victor is on his way to get you. Leave now.
“I will leave with you!” Dylan refused to abandon Suzy, especially with Claude being so dangerous.
“Stop wasting time and go! Grandma and Diana are waiting for you at home!”
“I said we’re leaving together!”

Their back–and–forth bickering, in Claude’s eyes, was nothing short of blatant flirting. Fueled by jealousy, his rage finally boiled over.
“I won’t allow you to leave!”
Claude fired at Dylan, the shot so swift there was no time to react. The bullet struck true, and as Dylan clutched his bleeding abdomen, Claude seized him and plunged into the churning ocean below.
“If I can’t have you, and you won’t choose me, then I’ll die with him!” Claude declared, dragging Dylan into the waves with him.
