Avalon had struck from behind, injecting Suzy with a syringe. It must have been a sedative specifically engineered by Claude for her unique constitution–anything less wouldn’t have worked.
So, he didn’t really trust her after all.
Otherwise, why would he have sent Avalon to ambush her in secret?

Suzy couldn’t believe Avalon would betray her. Yet, everything began to make sense. A few days ago, when Avalon insisted on accompanying her to Bayview Heights, it was nothing more than a test.
Suzy had started suspecting Avalon’s loyalty after intercepting intelligence through the listening device planted on Charlotte. That was when she uncovered Claude’s true identity and quietly arranged for someone to tail Avalon, only to discover she’d already been bought off.
First, it was Lisa. Now, Avalon.
Suzy had treated them both with sincerity, only to find it had always been one–sided.
Perhaps they had their reasons. Perhaps they had no choice.
The drug worked almost instantly. If it hadn’t, she wouldn’t have been so easily subdued by Claude. Now her body was as limp as cotton, completely devoid of strength. The only parts of her she could move were her eyes and lips.
As she watched Claude reach to unbutton her clothes, her expression turned cold, her eyes. devoid of any emotion.
“Claude, I don’t want to hate you. Don’t force me.”
“Hate me if you must. I don’t care.”
With those words, Claude tore her clothes apart and leaned down, pressing his lips toward
hers.
Just as his lips were about to meet hers, he was violently yanked backward by his collar with such force that he staggered.
Turning around, he froze. Standing before him was Dylan, who was supposed to be buried today.
Claude let out a bitter laugh, full of self–mockery. “Of course. Suzy knows my true identity. How could she have really killed you?”

All his efforts and all his plans were nothing but a cruel joke.
Dylan didn’t waste a single word. His fist connected with Claude’s face, sending him reeling, before he grabbed a blanket to cover Suzy.
Claude wasn’t weak, but against Dylan–who was furious beyond reason–the difference in strength quickly became apparent.
Dylan wasn’t holding back. Every blow was calculated to be fatal, each strike fueled by his rage. It was clear just how enraged he truly was.

And that reason? It definitely wasn’t because she was hopelessly in love with Claude. Suzy’s personality was clear–cut–she loved and hated with equal intensity. The one thing she despised above all was being deceived. Not even Claude was an exception to that. Watching the live broadcast, Dylan had seen the moment Suzy severed all ties with Claude. He knew better than anyone just how cunning Claude could be. Having experienced it himself, he feared for Suzy’s safety. Ignoring his weakened condition, he rushed to the wedding venue.
As he had expected, Claude, backed into a corner, had lashed out at Suzy.
The memory of the scene he’d walked in on still burned in his mind.
Thankfully, he had arrived in time. If he had been even a moment later…
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. Rage surged in his chest, and without hesitation, he delivered a powerful kick to Claude.
He didn’t hold back. The force sent Claude flying across the room, slamming hard against the corner of the wall. But Dylan wasn’t finished. Striding over, he pressed his foot down on Claude’s chest.
“Claude, don’t covet what doesn’t belong to you, or you’ll end up like this.”
With that, he prepared to end Claude’s life. Just as he was about to strike, Avalon appeared, throwing a cloud of white powder at him.
