“Take a look at this,” he said, holding out a folder.
Suzy didn’t take it. “I’ll handle my own matters. There’s no need for your help, Mr. Wright.
She knew he meant well, but she didn’t want to owe him anything that might give him an excuse to involve himself in her life later. Cutting off every opportunity for him to insert himself was her best option.
Dylan, of course, understood her thinking. “This folder contains information on Ruby Andrews. Whether you look at it or not is up to you.”
He set the folder down and left without another word.
Aware of how much Suzy had on her plate recently, Dylan had deliberately kept his distance. Instead, he worked quietly behind the scenes, digging into Ruby’s background. The deeper he dug, the more alarming the revelations became.
He had debated whether to share what he’d found with Suzy. The truth might be too much for her to bear. But in the end, he decided she had the right to know.
