“They were such good people; they never did anything to hurt anyone. How could they end up like that?”
The girl’s sobs tugged at Suzy’s heart, dragging her back to memories of her own family tragedy.
She had once asked her aunt the same question. Her parents had been kind, decent people, so why had they been killed so cruelly?
But Yara’s situation was even more tragic. At least Suzy had her aunt back then.
Yara, on the other hand, had no one left.
That made Suzy’s heart ache for her even more especially since Yara bore a striking resemblance to someone Suzy had recently lost–her late aunt.
From the moment they first met, Suzy had noticed it.
Yara’s features, particularly her eyes and brows, were eerily similar to Charlotte’s. Almost identical.
If she hadn’t already investigated Yara’s background, Suzy might have wondered if the girl was secretly Charlotte’s daughter.
Gently patting Yara’s shoulder, Suzy said softly, “Don’t worry, I’ll help you find out who killed your parents.”
Yara looked up at Suzy with ear–filled eyes. “Really?”
Suzy grabbed a tissue and gently wiped the girl’s tears. “Yes. No matter who they are, I’ll find them and make them pay for what they did to your parents.
Just as she vowed to find the ones responsible for killing her own parents, her three brothers, and all those other innocent victims. She wouldn’t stop until justice was served.
No matter how long it took–even if it took her a whole lifetime as long as she was alive, she wouldn’t give up the search.
In fact, Suzy had already started investigating Yara’s parents‘ murder when she first looked into her background.
Yara’s father was a high school teacher, and her mother was a bank employee. On the surface, it seemed like a straightforward case.
But days passed with no leads. Not a single clue had surfaced.
The killer was clearly very skilled.

Another few days passed, and finally, a lead emerged–though it was entirely unexpected.
It turned out Yara’s father had been involved with a female student.
This revelation didn’t align at all with the devoted, loving husband Yara had described. Had her father been hiding his true self, or was someone deliberately misleading her? Suzy was deep in thought when an unwelcome interruption arrived. She hated being disturbed while working, especially by someone she had no desire to see.
So, when Dylan unexpectedly showed up at the Harlow Corporation, Suzy’s expression turned icy.
“Dylan, if you’re so free, why don’t you go massage Grandma’s back or do something meaningful for her instead of wasting your time pestering me?”
She didn’t even want to spare him a glance.
However, Dylan looked unusually serious. “There’s something important I need to tell you.”
“Too bad, I’m not interested.‘
She rolled her eyes, assuming it was yet another one of his attempts to bring up feelings or romance, which she couldn’t care less about.
Men. They were all worthless.
Whether it was Dylan or Hawk, she wanted them both as far away from her as possible.
But Dylan wouldn’t let it go.
Ignoring her protests, he practically dragged Suzy out of the Harlow Corporation.
“What is wrong with you, Dylan? Are you out of your mind?” Suzy snapped, thoroughly annoyed.
She hadn’t expected him to bring her to a cemetery.
“I was here yesterday visiting my parents‘ graves,” Dylan explained, his tone grim. “I also stopped by to pay my respects to your aunt, but I noticed something strange–someone’s tampered with her grave.”
Suzy crouched down, carefully examining the area.
Just as Dylan had said, there were clear signs her aunt’s grave had been disturbed.
