An unexpected announcement nearly drove both men to the edge, especially Dylan.
He stormed into Hillside Villa, his voice sharp as he demanded, “You’re getting engaged to Allen?”
“Any problem with that?” Suzy replied nonchalantly, nibbling on a chicken wing. “Or are you here to congratulate me?”
“Suzy, if you’re doing this just to make me give up, it’s not going to work,” Dylan said, his
tone strained with disbelief. “I dont care if you re engaged or even married to him. I won’t
stop fighting for you. And don’t think I don’t know the truth about your relationship with Allen!”
He’d done his homework. Allen wasn’t some boy–toy she kept around–he was one of her most trusted subordinates.
Suzy rolled her eyes and spat out a bone. “Fine, so he’s my subordinate. But does that mean I can’t fall in lo
with him? Why is it acceptable for a male boss to fall for his female assistant, but a female boss can’t love her male assistant?”
That pushed Dylan past his limit. He grabbed her arm and pulled her off the couch. “You’re telling me you’ve fallen for him?”
“Yes!” Suzy nodded without hesitation, her tone unwavering. “We’ve known each other for years. If there’s one man in this world who’s treated me the best, it’s him. He’d give his life for me. So why shouldn’t I love him?”
Dylan’s breath hitched, his chest heaving as his eyes turned bloodshot with fury. “Suzy, don’t lie to me. I can see through you.”
She shook his hand off, her expression frosty. “Oh, so now you’re an expert at reading people? Then why, back when I told you I never hurt Anne, did you insist I was lying?”
Suzy hadn’t wanted to dredge up the past. It was long over. But if he insisted on bringing it up to upset her, why should she hold back?
The past was a wound that Dylan could never heal. “I made mistakes-“|
“Spare me the excuses,” Suzy cut him off coldly. “Dylan, whether you believe it or not, I
love Allen. My engagement is real, and it has nothing to do with you?
Pointing to the door, she snapped, “Now that I’ve answered your question, you can leave.”
These days, Suzy had zero patience for Dylan.
He stared at her flushed, angry face, his lips pressed into a thin line. In the end, he said nothing more and turned to leave.

Chapter 0299
No sooner had Dylan walked out than Hawk arrived, asking nearly the same questions.
Suzy’s answers were just as curt.
Hawk, like Dylan, refused to believe her. “Junior, others might not understand your relationship with Allen, but do you really think I don’t? If you’re going to stage an act, at least pick someone else.”
Suzy rolled her eyes. “Yes, I’m putting on an act and I plan to keep it up for the rest of my life.”
“Are you seriously going to get engaged to Allen?”
“What do you think?” Suzy retorted. “Do you really think I’d waste public attention on a fake announcement if I weren’t serious?”
Hawk narrowed his eyes. “Riley has feelings for Allen. Don’t tell me you haven’t noticed.”
“And what of it?” Suzy asked coolly. “Allen doesn’t feel the same. Should he be forced to be with her just because she likes him?”
“Aren’t you worried about how Riley will take that? I thought you cared about your team.”
Suzy chuckled. “I’ve already spoken to her, and she’s given us her blessing.”
Hawk stared at her, momentarily speechless.
Both Dylan and Hawk left with bruised egos and sour moods, their attempts to confront Suzy yielding no results.
As the saying goes, nothing brings two enemies together like a common adversary.
Faced with the reality of Suzy’s engagement to Allen, Dylan and Hawk came to a mutual. understanding–they had to work together.
