Chapter 0293
It was Hawk’s subordinate.
So it really was Hawk behind this.
Without hesitation, Suzy dialed his number.
He picked up almost instantly. “Junior, why are you calling so late? Have you finally decided you missed me?”
“The antidote,” Suzy snapped, skipping all pleasantries.

Hawk paused for a moment, feigning confusion. “What antidote? Did you get poisoned?” “Cut the crap!” Suzy’s irritation flared. “Don’t tell me the person who poisoned Dylan acted on a personal grudge and wasn’t following your orders.”
“What? Dylan’s been poisoned?” Hawk’s voice carried feigned surprise, though Suzy wasn’t buying it. “How would that happen? He seemed fine the last time I saw him.”
“Why don’t you tell me?” Suzy said sharply. “Hawk, I don’t care why you poisoned Dylan, but you’d better hand over the antidote. If you don’t, don’t expect to come out of this unscathed!”
Hawk, unable to resist her fierce defense of Dylan, let a bitter laugh slip out. “You’re divorced. Why does it matter to you if he’s poisoned or not?”
“So, you’re admitting it.”
“And what if I admit it?” Hawk replied, dropping the act entirely. “Yes, I poisoned him. But I did it for you.
“For me?” Suzy let out a cold laugh. “I don’t recall ever asking you to do that.”
“You didn’t,” Hawk said, his voice tight with emotion.
“But Dylan needs to die. Your aunt may have deceived you, but everything she did was for your own good. And you… You say you don’t love him anymore, but you haven’t truly let him go. I owe your aunt a great debt, and I won’t let her sacrifices be in vain!”
Suzy was momentarily stunned. She hadn’t expected this to be his reasoning.
“So, did you cause the bridge to collapse too?”
“I did.”
Suzy took a deep breath. “Do I look like the kind of person who’d ever take back an ex?”
Why were all of them so obsessed with separating her from Dylan?

Chapter 0293
“If you’re not going back to Dylan, why don’t you honor your aunt’s wishes and marry me?
“My aunt only told me to consider you, not to marry you. Stop twisting her words! “To be honest, I did think about it. But here’s my answer–even if I never reconcile with Dylan, there will never be anything between us.”
Suzy’s tone turned icy as she emphasized each word. “Someone like you, who will harm innocent people just to achieve your goals? Forget this lifetime, even in the next, I wouldn’t look twice at you.”
She couldn’t forget what happened on that bridge. Dylan wasn’t the only one on it. So many innocent liv
were lost.
The image stayed with her, one she’d seen on the news: a young couple, newly married. The wife had felt unwell that day, so her husband took her for a checkup. They had just learned she was pregnant and, filled with joy, were on their way to her parents‘ house to share the happy news.
And then…
“Innocent people?” Hawk scoffed, unimpressed. “Don’t forget who you are, Suzy. You’re an assassin. Can you honestly say none of the people who died by your hand were innocent? You and I are the same. You’re just looking for an excuse to go against your aunt’s wishes.”
Hawk’s laugh was mocking, almost cruel. “If you want to blame someone, blame yourself. If it weren’t for you, I’d have no reason to act. What had happened to Dylan is all on you.”
Suzy’s patience snapped. “Shut your damn mouth! Hawk, save your manipulative crap for someone who cares. I’m not buying it!”
