Suzy watched him carefully, searching for any signs of deception, but there was nothing She took his pulse, and what she felt confirmed her suspicion–the pulse was very irregular.
“What kind of pain?” Suzy asked, trying to keep her tone calm.
Dylan furrowed his brow. “It feels like there’s a drill in my temple, boring into my skull. My vision keeps going black, and I feel so weak.”
As he spoke, he suddenly staggered, nearly falling.
Suzy reacted quickly, reaching out to steady him. That was when she noticed his body temperature was alarmingly high. “You’re burning up!”
When she’d checked his pulse earlier, everything had been normal. But in less than a minute, his temperature had spiked dramatically.
“I don’t know,” Dylan mumbled weakly in her arms. “I was just about to sleep when I started feeling off, so I came here to find you.”
This sudden change in his condition could only mean one thing.
He’d been poisoned.
She had checked him for toxins earlier, and there had been nothing. So how had this happened so suddenly?
Who had the nerve to chase him all the way to the estate?
Pushing those thoughts aside, she quickly helped him into a room.

As soon as she helped him onto the bed, Dylan grabbed her hand tightly. “Am I going to die?
Suzy scoffed, her voice sharp. “After causing so much trouble, you’re not dying that easily.”
She shook off his hand and began her examination, but the poison coursing through his system was unfamiliar to her.
There were very few poisons Suzy didn’t know, which meant his attacker was highly skilled.
First, the bridge collapse, then the polsoning. It was clear someone had made up their mind to take Dylan’s life.
Although it wasn’t her problem since they were already divorced, his life was tied to Grace and Diana. She couldn’t just let him die.
She worked tirelessly for half an hour, but instead of improving, Dylan’s condition only worsened. His face was deathly pale, and his breathing grew erratic.
Suzy’s brow furrowed in frustration. She grabbed a knife from the table and quickly sliced open her palm. “Open your mouth.”
She had trained with her mentor from a young age, testing countless poisons. Her blood was known to be the deadliest antidote.
As her blood dripped into Dylan’s mouth, the change was almost immediate. His color slowly returned, and his breathing steadied.
Suzy breathed a sigh of relief. “How do you feel?”

Before she could finish, Dylan’s breathing suddenly became shallow again. With a violent cough, he spat a large amount of blood.
“Dylan!”
“Suzy…” Dylan gasped, clutching her hand with what little strength he had left. “I remember everything. I was wrong to you… I’m truly sorry. I krlow you’ll never forgive me, and I don’t expect you to. I just wanted to tell you about my feelings at the last moment…”
His grip tightened around her hand as if trying to pour every ounce of energy into it. “Suzy, I love you!”
