Chapter 0028
Dylan’s deep
Haze Brew even darker. “You want to sever tles? Hand over the antidote first.” “Antidote?” Suzy spread her hands. “Sorry, I don’t have one.”
“You poisoned her, and now you claim you dont have an antidote?”
This woman hadn’t told a single truth!
“Proof!” Suzy’s voice was icy. “Without evidence, it’s nothing but slander. Or are you condemning me based solely on Anne’s word?”
Dylan’s lips curved into a cold smile. “Didn’t you just admit it? Now you want to back out?”
“And you believe everything I say?” Suzy laughed mockingly. “I once told you I loved you. Why didn’t you believe that?”
As soon as the words left her mouth, Suzy regretted it, wishing she could slap herself.
What a ridiculous thing to say!
They were divorced–why even bring that up?
Dylan was momentarily stunned, not expecting her to say such a thing.
Just as he was about to respond, she added, “Good thing you never believed it.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means exactly what it sounds like!” she snapped, changing the subject. “Now, hurry up! and give me the divorce papers. I’m in a rush.”
The mention of the divorce papers clearly hit a nerve, and Dylan’s expression darkened. visibly. “I don’t have them.”
“…How could you not have them?” Suzy’s brows furrowed. “You didn’t sign, or you didn’t. get a lawyer to process it?”
Dylan’s tone was filled with irritation. “You’ve been dodging me this whole time. How was I supposed to get a lawyer to finish the process?”
A sarcastic laugh escaped her. “The great Dylan Wright can’t manage to get a document processed? One phone call and it’s done, yet now you’re telling me you can’t handle it alone? Since when did you become so law–abiding? What’s the real reason? You can’t, or you just don’t want to?”
Dylan chuckled, his hands sliding into his pockets as he stepped closer. “Which answer do you want?”
Suzy immediately stepped back. “If you don’t have them, then let’s go get them now.”

“…Are you sure?”
His eyes flickered with something unreadable.
“It seems like Mr. Wright doesn’t actually want a divorce,” Suzy said, her tone teasing. What is it? Afraid you can’t explain it to Grandma? Or… have you fallen in love with me?”
Dylan’s heart skipped a beat, but he quickly suppressed the unwelcome feeling, his eyes filled with mockery as he looked at her. “You think you’re worthy?”
Suzy fell silent for a moment and clenched her fists. “You’re right, I’m not. So, let’s get this over with—Anne’s been waiting for the title of Mrs. Wright for three long years.
Without hesitation, she turned and walked out, her resolve clear in every step.
A flicker of something dark flashed in Dylan’s eyes.
With a long stride, he followed her out of the room.
Downstairs, Suzy was already waiting.
When she saw him descend, she gave a curt reminder, “Make sure to bring all the necessary documents.”
не
“Same goes for you,” he shot back.
She threw him a glance before turning and heading outside.
At the entrance, Suzy was waiting for the rideshare she’d called when a sleek black Bentley suddenly pulled up in front of her.
The window rolled down, revealing Dylan’s handsome but cold expression. “Get in.”
Suzy paused.
It was almost laughable.
In three years of marriage, this was the first time he’d ever offered her a ride.
Even when they went out together, he never traveled with her.
Not even to visit Grace.
He’d always make her take a separate car and meet him at the door so they could keep up appearances together in front of his family.
And now, suddenly…
He must be worried she’d back out.
A silent, bitter laugh escaped her as she opened the back door.

She didn’t even bother with the front seat–she had long since stopped caring about that.
Dylan’s gaze darkened for a moment as Suzy settled into the back, but just as quickly, he pressed down on the gas and drove off.
