Dylan wasn’t usually one to let Anne manipulate him, but that night, he stormed into her villa, his expression dark and foreboding. “Anne, you’d better stop pushing your luck.”
“Push my luck?” Anne sneered, her tone laced with mockery. “So, you don’t care about Suzy’s life anymore? Fine, I’ll have her killed right now.”
Dylan had never wanted to kill someone as much as he did at that moment. This was the first time he felt such unrestrained hatred. “Anne, one day, you’ll pay for everything you’ve done.”
“That may be true,” Anne replied with a twisted smile, “but only if Suzy lives longer than
me.”
She had long since mastered using Suzy as leverage. “Dylan, I’m not here to negotiate. I’m telling you what’s going to happen. So, you’d better do as I say. My patience has limits, and if you make me wait, who knows what I’ll do next?”
With no leads yet on Anne’s supposed backer, Dylan had no choice but to comply. No matter how much it disgusted him, he followed her orders.

When the news broke, Suzy was with Charlotte at the Harlow estate. It was the hundredth day since Claude’s passing, and Suzy had arranged a ceremony for him, not out of superstition but as part of the local customs.

She pushed Suzy aside and marched ahead with even more determination.
Worried, Suzy followed closely behind. Despite her best efforts to keep up, Charlotte’s pace was too quick, and she arrived at Anne’s villa first.
When Suzy finally stepped through the door, what she saw froze her in place.
