Before he could respond, Dylan’s phone rang–the special number belonging to Grace.
Anne saw the caller ID as well. Without hesitation, she snatched the phone from his hand and answered it. “Grandma…”
Her voice was sugary sweet, but on the other end, Grace snapped angrily, “Who is this. shameless woman? Get lost!”
Anne’s smile froze instantly. “I know you’ve never liked me, but so what? Your grandson does, and he’s about to marry me…”
“Dylan Wright!” Grace’s voice rose with fury. “Come back home immediately. Right now!”
At the Wright family estate, Dylan arrived as quickly as he could.
Anne insisted on coming along, and when Dylan refused, she once again used Suzy’s safety as a threat.
There was nothing Dylan cared for more than Suzy. Even the slightest harm to her was unacceptable, let alone a real threat to her life.
Left with no choice, he brought Anne with him.
Grace, already seething with anger, became even more livid when she saw Anne walk in beside Dylan. Her voice trembled with fury. “Dylan Wright, are you trying to end my life sooner?”
Her face was flushed, and her blood pressure was clearly skyrocketing.
“Grandma…” Dylan started, but Anne cut him off, deliberately putting on a show of intimacy by wrapping her arm around his.
“Grandma, don’t get so worked up. If something were to happen to you, you wouldn’t be able to attend our wedding!”
“Get out!” Grace’s wrath boiled over as she grabbed the fruit tray from the table and hurled it at Anne. “The Wright family does not welcome you!”
“Are you not going to even welcome our child in my belly?” Anne pushed her stomach

forward slightly, her tone sharp. “This is your firstborn great–grandchild we’re talking about. Didn’t you always want one?
“You’ll have one in about ten months time, so you’d better calm down and save your energy. Otherwise, you might not live to see him.”
Her words grew more and more cutting, and Dylan’s patience snapped. His voice dropped to a low, icy tone only the two of them could hear. “Anne, don’t think for a second that I won’t do something to you.”
“Then go ahead!” Anne sneered, her voice equally cold. “But remember what I said–my life and Suzy’s are tied together now. Do whatever you want, but don’t come crying when you regret it later.”
Grace, watching the two of them whispering, misunderstood everything entirely. Disappointment etched across her face, she looked at Dylan with a heavy heart.
“I thought you’d come to your senses,” she said bitterly. “But clearly, I was wrong. She let out a humorless laugh. “Thank goodness Suzy woke up to the truth early on. If she’d wasted her life on someone like you, it would have been the real tragedy.”
Dylan stood there, speechless.
He wanted to explain, but Grace didn’t give him the chance.
Instead, she pointed at Anne, her expression filled with disdain.
“The child in your belly? I will never acknowledge it. And as long as I’m alive, you’ll never set foot in the Wright family home!”
She turned to Dylan, her gaze sharp and resolute. “If you still recognize me as your grandmother, take her to the hospital now. End this pregnancy, cancel the wedding, and we’ll still be family. If not, leave with her and don’t come back to the Wright family.”
