Suzy’s expression was ice–cold. “Looking at your masked face kills any appetite I might
have.”
This insufferable man never missed a single night to show up. Didn’t he have anything better to do than cling to her like this?
“Then take it off for me!” he teased, leaning closer. “You might find what’s underneath… quite appetizing.”
Suzy swatted him away without hesitation. “I’ve got things to do and no time for your nonsense.”
Extending her hand again, she demanded, “My phone!”
The man’chuckled lightly. “It’s in my pocket, but my arms seem to be acting up. It hurts to move them. If you want it, you’ll have to get it yourself.”
Her gaze darkened as she warned, “Are you sure about that?”
“Never mind!” he said quickly, suddenly less bold.
Truth be told, her icy glare unnerved him a little. “My arms feel fine now.”
Fishing the phone from his pocket, he handed it over. “It’s late already. Don’t trouble anyone else. Come on, let me give you a ride.”
Suzy stared at him for a moment before holding out her hand. “Keys.”
She wasn’t about to entrust her life to a man she knew nothing about.
The car sped through the night, and before long, they arrived at the Harlow estate.
As soon as the car stopped, Suzy got out without a word, her steps quick and deliberate. The man followed, unwilling to let her go so easily.
At the front door, as Suzy prepared to close it behind her, he propped a hand against the frame. “I’m feeling a little thirsty. Miss Frost, would you be kind enough to offer me a cup of tea?”
“Tea at night isn’t great for sleep,” she replied flatly, shoving him back and shutting the
door in his face.

Staring at the closed door, the man’s expression remained unbothered, even amused.

Pushing open her bedroom door, Suzy froze at the sight of the man sitting comfortably on her bed. Without a second thought, she grabbed the nearest vase and hurled it at him.
The man deftly caught the vase mid–air, turning it over in his hands as if inspecting a piece of art. “Is this a thank–you gift for bringing you home? Honestly, I’d prefer it if you just gifted yourself to me.”
“No wonder you like wearing a mask,” Suzy shot back, her tone dripping with disdain.” With shamelessness like yours, it makes sense you wouldn’t dare show your face.”
Having delivered her retort, she turned and walked further into the house. Over time, she had come to understand a thing or two about this man’s antics.
No matter how brazen he acted, he never overstayed his welcome. There was no point wasting energy arguing with him–he’d leave on his own when the time came.
Settling onto the sofa, Suzy pulled out her phone to continue her research.
Lisa’s expression before she died had gnawed at her. Something about it didn’t sit right.
From both psychological and forensic perspectives, it was clear Lisa had been hiding something. But what? That would require further investigation to uncover.
Putting her phone away, Suzy glanced toward the man. It struck her as odd that he had gone so quiet. Turning her head, she saw the reason–he was fast asleep on her bed!

Suzy stormed to the bed, her steps firm with anger. She lifted her foot, fully intent on kicking him off.
How dare he sleep in her bed? Did he have a death wish?
But just as her foot was about to make contact, she paused, slowly lowering it back down.
Standing at the edge of the bed, her eyes fell on the man’s closed lids beneath the mask.
She had never noticed it before, but now, looking at him like this, something about him felt familiar. Almost like…
This was her chance to finally see who he really was.
Not wanting to risk him waking up midway, she pressed on a pressure point to immobilize him. Only then did she carefully reach for his mask, her hand moving with deliberate
slowness.
