man standing before her showed no trace of such an injury.

As her gaze lingered on the mask, Suzy felt the urge to pull it off once more.

Forget it. She didn’t care anymore.
For now, this man didn’t seem hostile. And even if he was, she wasn’t afraid of him.
Unbothered by her silence, the man pulled up a chair, sat down, and handed her a folder. ” See if there’s anything in here that might be useful to you.”
Suzy didn’t take it. “I told you, I’ll handle my revenge myself.”
If he wasn’t Hawk, she had even more reason to be cautious because she didn’t know anything about him.
The man seemed to read her thoughts. “It’s free.”
“I still don’t need it!” Suzy scoffed. Smooth–talking men like him couldn’t be trusted— she’d learned that lesson the hard way, thanks to that deceitful bastard Dylan.
One moment he’d acted deeply devoted to her, and the next, he’d turned around to cozy up
to Anne.
Come to think of it, she hadn’t seen Dylan in a while.
Not that she cared. She hadn’t bought into his nonsense before, and now that his facade had crumbled, it appeared to her that he clearly didn’t see the need to keep up the act.
It was much better for him to stay far away from her
She hoped he’d keep it that way forever. Life was far more peaceful without him.
When Suzy refused to take the folder, the man casually placed it on the table in front of her and left without another word.
Did he leave just like that?
Suzy glanced at the folder he’d left behind. After a moment of hesitation, she walked over, picked it up, and promptly tossed it into the trash without opening it.
She didn’t trust this man, not even for a second. Saving her didn’t mean anything. A man who wouldn’t even reveal his face had no credibility in her eyes.

Chapter 0224
Closing her laptop, Suzy grabbed some clothes and headed for the shower.
She wasn’t supposed to take a shower yet. The wound from the arrow on her chest was still healing and getting it wet could make things worse.
But after several days without bathing, she couldn’t take it anymore and wanted a quick, simple rinse.
Thinking she was alone in the room, Suzy didn’t bother getting dressed after her shower. She wrapped herself in a towel and stepped out, figuring it would be easier to change the dressing on her wound without clothes getting in the way.
What she didn’t expect was to walk straight into the man who had just returned holding a cake in his hand.
So, he hadn’t left after all. He’d gone out to buy cake?
The man seemed equally surprised to see her like this, fresh out of the shower. He froze for a few seconds before awkwardly lifting the cake slightly. “I picked this up on the way back and forgot it in the car.
“Explaining that right now is the least of your concerns. You should be turning around and getting the hell out of here!”
Didn’t he notice she wasn’t wearing clothes?
The realization that a stranger had just seen her like this made Suzy want to claw his eyes
out.
Sensing her growing fury, the man quickly turned away, his tone calm. “Your wound looks like it’s bleeding again. Do you need help?”
Suzy glanced down.
Sure enough, blood was seeping from her wound probably because her rage had gotten her heart pumping.
Her glare sharpened. “The only thing I need is for you to disappear from my sight. Immediately.”
The man didn’t argue. Without another word, he left the room.
Suzy locked the door behind him and hurriedly treated her wound, carefully cleaning and rebandaging it.
Once everything was taken care of, her eyes drifted to the folder sitting in the trash.
That shameless man had almost seen her completely naked–it was practically a free show for him, so…
