When Charlotte learned about Suzy’s unauthorized discharge from the hospital, she was upset but didn’t make a big deal out of it. Instead, she said, “Fine, what’s done is done. But you’re staying at my place so I can take care of you properly.”
Thinking of Charlotte’s overly “thoughtful” breakfast offerings, Suzy quickly shook her head. “No need. The Harlow family has no shortage of housekeepers.”
“Sure, there’s no shortage of housekeepers, but we’re clearly missing someone who can keep you in line!” Charlotte shot her a look. “If you won’t even listen to me, do you think you’d actually listen to a housekeeper?”
“I would!” Suzy promised. “Even if I’m not in the hospital, I’ll make sure to rest properly and recover as quickly as possible.”
Seeing how determined Suzy was, Charlotte relented. “You’d better stick to your word. I’ll be checking in on you!”
“I will!”
Before leaving, Charlotte asked, “By the way, any leads on the culprit? I’ve got nothing on my.end.”
“No leads yet,” Suzy replied honestly. “Everything’s still under investigation.”
Charlotte pressed her lips together. “Alright, don’t overwork yourself. Some things can’t be rushed.”
Finally seeing Charlotte off, Suzy thought she’d get some peace, but Allen showed up next, launching into a round of nagging.
Although his endless chatter gave her a headache, she didn’t complain. She knew their concern came from a place of care.
Once Allen was done expressing his dissatisfaction, he handed her the latest investigation report. “We’ve gone through the list of servers who handled the drinks that night. Strangely, none of them seem suspicious.”
Suzy scanned the list. Everything looked perfectly normal. “What about their families or close friends?”
“We checked them too. Is it possible the drinks weren’t the issue at all?” Allen suggested boldly. “Maybe someone took advantage of the time you were resting and drugged you with something like sleeping gas?”
Suzy dismissed the idea immediately. “Impossible. Even if I were drunk, I’d never fail to notice if someone got close to me.”

Allen nodded. “True. I’ll recheck the servers again, just to be sure.”
After a moment’s thought, Suzy added, “Look into Lisa as well.”
Lisa was Suzy’s assistant.
Allen hesitated. “Lisa? That seems unlikely. She’s one of us!”

Suzy’s expression darkened as she replied, “Aside from the drinks, I also drank a glass of water Lisa poured for me before the banquet started. If the drinks are fine, then the only thing left to suspect is that water.‘

One thing was certain–there was definitely no issue with the milk.
Allen’s expression turned serious as well. “Got it.”
After Allen left, Suzy pulled out her laptop and personally went through the information he had gathered on the servers.
There really wasn’t anything unusual.
Which meant the possibility of Lisa being involved couldn’t be ignored.
Lost in thought, Suzy froze when she felt a hand suddenly rest on her shoulder.
“It’s late. You should get some sleep.”
The voice had come out of nowhere. If Suzy hadn’t been so composed, the shock might have sent her into cardiac arrest–or at least half–dead with fright.
Especially when she looked up and was met with the icy gleam of that silver mask.
Her irritation boiled over as she spun around, her fist aiming straight at him. “Get lost!”
The man dodged quickly, chuckling. “Ah, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Are you upset I came too late?”
He leaned in slightly, his voice low and teasing. “Should I come earlier tomorrow? Or better yet, maybe I’ll just stay the night.”
Suzy glared at him, utterly exasperated. “I don’t care who you are. I don’t have time to deal with you right now. Get out!”
She’d had enough–one person after another, constantly getting on her nerves.
At first, she’d suspected he was Hawk. But after asking Avalon, she’d learned Hawk had been under constant surveillance and hadn’t taken a single step out of their sight.
