The man didn’t answer Suzy’s question.
Instead, as she moved closer, his voice turned cold with irritation. “Don’t move!”
But Suzy acted as if she hadn’t heard him, continuing forward until she stopped directly in front of him.
“I’m not the kind of person who enjoys owing favors, and I don’t buy that you saved me out of pure kindness. If that were the case, why go out of your way to cross my path in the middle of the night?”
She’d questioned before whether the so–called masked man was just a figment of her imagination. But how, seeing him here in person, those doubts vanished. His stealthy behavior at this hour only deepened her suspicions.
If he truly wanted to do a good deed without seeking recognition, why did he show up again?
The masked man chuckled lightly. “I had no agenda, but since you’re so convinced I must want something, why not play along? After all, you don’t like owing debts.”
He scanned her up and down with a bold gaze. “I’m not lacking in anything… except a woman. You look pretty pleasing to me. Why don’t you repay me by spending a night with me?”
Suzy let out a sharp laugh. “A tall, strong man like you? I’m afraid I wouldn’t be good enough for you.‘
“Don’t worry. I’m not picky,” he replied, his deep voice as rich as a cello. “I’m good at taking care of women. You can give it a try if you don’t believe me.”
She scoffed inwardly. This shameless man dared to flirt with her!
With a sly smile, Suzy countered, “How about you take off the mask first? Let me see what
you
look like. You might just be hiding a face only a mother could love.”
“My face is for my woman to see,” he said smoothly.
Suzy arched a brow. “I’ve given you the chance you’re the one who turned it down. Consider your favor repaid. From now on, we owe each other nothing.”
With that, she spun around and started to leave.
The man stood frozen.
So, that was it?
Watching her retreating figure, he didn’t immediately follow. Instead, he murmured softly

to himself, his tone filled with indulgent amusement, “Clever little troublemaker.”
But as Suzy walked farther away, he finally began to follow. Just as he took a couple of steps, a swift shadow dashed toward him.
Suzy had doubled back, her movements lightning–fast as her hand reached for his mask.
Just as she was about to pull it off, his hand clamped over hers. “Girl, once this mask comes off, you’ll be mine. For life. There’ll be no escaping me. You sure about this?”
Suzy stared unblinkingly at the mask on his face, her expression unwavering.
When the man suggested she become his woman, Suzy immediately suspected he might be Hawk. After all, only he would have the audacity to say something so shameless!
The loose trench coat he wore hid his build too well, leaving her unsure if her suspicion was right.
If he really was Hawk, there was no need to bother with the mask anyway.
Besides, since he clearly didn’t want to reveal his face, she didn’t see the point in forcing the issue. She wasn’t all that curious about his identity anyway.
When the time came, she’d find out naturally–there was no need to pay a price she wasn’t willing to.
With that thought, Suzy released her grip. “Nice mask. Since you’re so fond of it, why don’t you keep wearing it forever?”
The man didn’t seem annoyed.
Instead, his voice was full of warmth. “One day you’ll want to take it off yourself.”
“Then you can keep waiting for that day,” Suzy retorted, thinking to herself, “that day will never come.”
With those words, she turned to leave again.
This time, the man didn’t hesitate to follow her
At first, Suzy didn’t think much of it, assuming he was just leaving the hospital too.
But after exiting the building, she realized he was still trailing her.
Not only was he following her, but he even spoke in a gentle tone. “You haven’t fully recovered. You really should rest a few more days.”
