Chapter 0218
Suzy felt that sending Avalon wasn’t the best idea. “Hawk is cunning and devious–maybe someone else should go.”
But Avalon replied calmly, “I’ll give it a try. If it doesn’t work, we can rethink. Besides, it’s on the way.”
After a moment’s thought, Suzy relented. “Fine, but be careful. Don’t let yourself get hurt.”
Avalon’s eyes flickered with a fleeting, unreadable emotion before returning to their usual calm. “Got it.”
Suzy didn’t have high hopes for Avalon’s plan, but to her surprise, Avalon later reported back that she had set an ambush while Hawk was on his way to the mountains to pay respects. It worked perfectly, leaving Hawk seriously injured.
According to Avalon, he wouldn’t be troubling Suzy anytime soon.
For Suzy, the news was a relief. That evening, she headed to Gold Eagle Heights and invited Allen and Raven for a small celebration over drinks.
“Avalon’s a lot tougher than I gave her credit for,” Allen remarked, clearly impressed. “She actually managed to take Hawk down.”
Riley chuckled. “You sound like this is the first time you’ve met her. She’s always been like
that.
“Others say Boss is ruthless, but honestly, Avalon takes the crown: She’ll do anything Boss orders without hesitation. Even you, me, or Raven–if Boss gave the word, she wouldn’t blink before taking us out.”
Suzy didn’t think much of Riley’s comment at the time, but later, when she saw Avalon’s true ruthlessness with her own eyes, she realized how little she had truly understood her all these years.
Changing the subject, Suzy turned to Allen. “Any updates on the account connected to Mark Goodwin?”
Allen shook his head. “There was that one transaction, and then nothing–dead silence. No matter what we try, it’s completely untraceable.”
Suzy’s eyes narrowed. “Leave it.”
If her suspicions were right, there would be more activity soon. All they had to do now was wait.
Allen caught her meaning and nodded. “Understood.”
After a few rounds of drinks, Suzy began to feel tipsy. “Alright, I’m calling it a night.”

Tomorrow marked the official launch of the Harlow Corporation’s new project, and she needed an early start.
Allen looked concerned. “I’ll drive you home.”
Suzy chuckled softly. “You talk like you haven’t been drinking too. Just call me a driver and save yourself the trouble.”
Riley interjected, “Why call a service and waste money? The staff here are just as reliable and probably safer.”
With that, Riley arranged for one of the most trustworthy and dependable employees to drive Suzy home.
After getting into the car, Suzy leaned back in the rear seat to rest.
Normally, she wouldn’t allow herself to relax so easily, but since Riley had chosen the driver, she felt reassured. Even when the driver stepped out midway and returned shortly after, she simply opened her eyes briefly before closing them again.
To her surprise, the employee’s driving skills were quite impressive. The car moved smoothly along the road, lulling her into a comfortable sleep.
However, when Suzy woke up, she realized the car was still moving–but not in the direction of the Harlow estate.
Instead, they seemed to be heading somewhere unfamiliar.
Her eyes narrowed dangerously, a sharp chill radiating from her.
Sitting up straight, she turned her gaze to the driver, who was now wearing a mask. “Who are you?” she asked coldly, her voice laced with an unmistakable edge.
