Suzy remained silent, her gaze sharp. It was obvious that Gray Wolf had been bottling this up for far too long. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have started rambling the moment he saw her.
When she asked why he was here, all she got was endless chatter and no real answers.
“Whatever you have to say, save it for later,” Suzy cut him off, crouching down to unfasten the chains binding his wrists and ankles.
His codename might be Gray Wolf, but at the moment, he looked more like a chained dog, bound at Dylan’s mercy.
Just as they were about to leave, Suzy froze, hearing footsteps approaching from the distance. “Dylan’s back.”
Gray Wolf panicked immediately. “Boss, he’s been trying to find out who sent me to kill him. If he sees you, he won’t let it go–quick, you need to hide!”
Suzy was left speechless.
Kill him?
So that was why Gray Wolf was here–to assassinate Dylan?
As for who sent him, Suzy didn’t need to think hard to figure it out. There was no one else it could have been but Allen.
It must have been right after she left Dylan, back when Allen was still furious on her behalf. That was probably why he sent Gray Wolf.
But it had been months, and Allen hadn’t said a word about it. Did he seriously not care what happened to Gray Wolf, one of his most trusted men?
Suzy considered her options. She technically didn’t need to hide–if Dylan really was connected to the Yellowtail Squadron, he’d already know her identity.
But if he did know, why would he keep Gray Wolf imprisoned for so long without saying a word to her about it?
This uncertainty made Suzy hesitate. To play it safe, she decided to hide for now.
After Suzy concealed herself, Gray Wolf quickly resecured his chains. He had just finished when Dylan walked in, placing food in front of him without a word before turning to leave.

Gray Wolf was dumbfounded. “You’re not asking me anything today?”
Whenever Dylan came by, he would always ask the same question. Even though Gray Wolf never answered, Dylan would still ask.

Gray Wolf rolled his eyes and said nothing, grabbing the food and digging in.

Suzy waited a moment before emerging from her hiding spot. She swiftly unchained Gray Wolf again, and the two of them moved toward the door.
Peering through the narrow gap, Suzy checked to make sure the study was empty. Once she confirmed Dylan was nowhere in sight, she carefully activated the hidden mechanism to open the door.
The two stepped out cautiously, taking slow, deliberate steps. But before they could make it far, the previously dark study was suddenly flooded with bright light.
Dylan had noticed something was off the moment he stepped into the study earlier.
The secret mechanism had shifted slightly. The change was subtle, but he had a sharp eye for such details.
After keeping Gray Wolf locked up for months, he had been waiting for his accomplice to show up. To lure them out, Dylan deliberately acted as if he hadn’t noticed anything amiss. As he had anticipated, the intruder didn’t realize their cover was blown.
