Chapter 0205
Anne expected Suzy to be furious at her words, but Suzy only replied, “Makes sense.”
So that was why he’d suddenly confessed to her, so full of apparent sincerity.
For a moment, she’d nearly believed him–but it turned out to be nothing more than a petty scheme for revenge. Even if she had believed him, she wouldn’t have made the same mistake twice.
“Suzy, stop pretending. I know you’re angry. You loved him, and yet he’s always plotting behind
your
back.” Anne continued to push, eager to provoke her. “You’re lucky you didn’t fall for it, or you’d just end up like before, with him trampling all over your heart-”
Suzy hadn’t been angry, but Anne’s constant droning grated on her nerves, making her head ache.
Finally, she raised her hand and slapped her across the face.
“You’re right. I am furious,” Suzy said calmly. “Since he did it all for you, I’ll take my frustration out on you.”
With that, she delivered a few more quick slaps.
Just then, a crowd of reporters surged forward. “Look, it’s Miss Wheeler! Let’s go ask her if there’s any truth to the rumors about her and Mr. Wright!”
As the reporters closed in, Anne quickly covered her face, feigning distress. “Suzy, if I said anything you didn’t like, you could’ve just told me. Why resort to violence?”
One of the reporters echoed, “That’s right. If there’s an issue, talk it out—no need to resort to hitting.”
Several others started to murmur in agreement, quietly chastising Suzy for what they perceived as unprovoked aggression.
Anyone else might have rushed to explain themselves, but Suzy simply gave Anne another couple of slaps, right in front of everyone.

The crowd was stunned into silence. They hadn’t expected such a reaction.
Ignoring their shocked expressions, Suzy grabbed Anne by the chin, leaning in to whisper in a voice only they could hear. “I don’t know why you set up this scene with all these reporters but let me be clear–I have little patience. If you want to live a little longer, stay far away from me.”
With those words, Suzy turned on her heel and strode back into the Harlow estate.

Anne, completely unfazed by the threat, waited until Suzy was out of sight before turning to the reporters with a show of concern. “Friends from the press, I hope you won’t publish what just happened. I’m sure Miss Frost didn’t mean to lash out.”
By the next day, news of Suzy’s altercation with Anne was plastered across every major website. In no time, Suzy’s reputation plummeted, and Harlow Corporation’s stock took a hit as well.
When Dylan saw the headlines, he immediately confronted Anne. “Who told you to go see her?”
“Mr. Dylan, please don’t be upset…” Anne said, her voice laced with innocent hurt. “I only went to talk to Suzy because I was worried she’d misunderstand our relationship. I know how much you care about her opinion, so I thought it might be easier for me to clear things up. Sometimes, it’s better if I say what needs to be said.”
She sighed, continuing, “But she said she doesn’t care at all. She said whatever happens between us–whether we’re together or even married–wouldn’t make the slightest difference to her.”
It sounded exactly like something Suzy would say. She’d been just as cold and dismissive to him in person.
