“No,” Allen replied. “I’ve found a few leads, but the actual identity is still under investigation.”
Suzy’s face fell. She’d thought they’d finally cracked it. If they didn’t have that information yet, what had prompted Allen to come find her in the middle of the night?
Years of working together meant she didn’t have to say a word–one look, and Allen knew exactly what she was thinking. “While we haven’t identified Yellowtail Squadron’s leader yet, we have uncovered something about Mark Goodwin.”
Suzy’s eyes sharpened. “What did you find?”
Allen pulled out his phone and showed her a photo. “Take a look at this.”
The image displayed a bank transaction receipt.
“This is Mark’s personal account,” Allen explained. “You have to give it to him; he’s a sly old fox, hiding this account incredibly well. I never found it in previous searches. But recently, this account became active again, which is how I managed to trace it. There’s been a mysterious deposit, and no matter what I tried, I couldn’t track the sender.” “Untraceable?” Suzy took Allen’s laptop and began digging into the transfer’s origin. As he’d said, she tried every method, but there was no way to trace it. The account was remarkably secure, with no available information on the sender, even after breaching it. Allen’s brow furrowed further as he watched her efforts fail. “Who could it possibly be if even you can’t crack it?”
Suzy wanted to know the answer too. But they hadn’t come up empty–handed; at the very least, they now had confirmation that Mark wasn’t as innocent as he appeared. And there

“The sudden activity on this account–it can’t be a coincidence.”
Allen nodded, his expression thoughtful. “Exactly. Goodwin’s already aware you’re suspicious of him. If he were trying to stay under the radar, he’d lie low. So, why would he make such an obvious mistake? Either he underestimated your reach, or someone’s setting up the Goodwin family to take the fall.”
Suzy pondered for a moment. “Whatever the reason, we can’t afford to let our guard down with Mark.
Allen nodded. “Understood. The team keeping tabs on him is top–notch.”
With the essentials covered, Suzy closed the laptop and stood to leave
Seeing this, Allen cleared his throat awkwardly. “Um…”

She shot him a look. “Quit stalling. Just say it.”
“Dylan’s confession… doesn’t that stir anything in you?” he asked carefully.
“Stir what?” Suzy arched an eyebrow. “Just because he confessed, I’m supposed to accept it? Plenty of people are interested in me; he’s nothing special.”
Allen grinned, giving her a thumbs–up. “That’s the boss I know–unfazed as ever! I honestly don’t know how Dylan even had the nerve to say what he did, especially with Anne still recovering at his private villa. One minute he’s playing nurse to her, the next he’s confessing to you. Does he think he’s some kind of king?”
Suzy, clearly tired of anything related to Dylan, waved him off impatiently. “Enough chatter. Go get some rest.”
Allen was speechless.
He’d only brought it up out of concern, worried she might waver and give Dylan a second chance. But from her reaction, his concerns were unfounded. Dylan would stay on her blacklist for life.
With Claude gone too soon and Dylan forever banished, Allen figured his own chances might have just improved.
