As if her words were mere venting–he couldn’t believe she really meant it.
Suzy’s brows knit together as she replied, “You think I’m angry?”
She gave a cold laugh. “Dylan, who gave you the confidence to believe I’d love you forever?”

If she’d truly moved on, she wouldn’t have been concerned about his wound becoming infected. He’d seen the worry in her eyes while she tended to him. She might call it anger, but he didn’t buy it.
Suzy couldn’t help but laugh. “I’m a doctor. Even if it were just a dog with a wound that severe, I wouldn’t ignore it.”
Did she really just compare him to a dog?
“Don’t get cocky, woman,” Dylan’s expression soured. “This is the last time I’ll let that slide.”
Suzy was left speechless.
His ego was astounding.
Without a word, Suzy turned to leave, but Dylan stepped in front of her. “Pack your things. You’re coming back to Bayview Heights with me.”
Suzy sighed, exasperated. “Dylan, I don’t know if it’s your ears or your brain that’s failing, so I’ll say it one last time…”
Suzy’s expression grew even colder. “I don’t love you anymore, Dylan. So take back whatever feelings you think you have. There’s no chance for us–unless hell freezes over.” Seeing him ready to speak again, Suzy raised her voice, calling for the maid. “See him out!”

Dylan could tell from her expression that saying more would be pointless. Some things couldn’t be rushed. Accepting this, he merely left her with one final comment. “I’ll be here in the morning to take you to see Grandma. She misses you.”
If she didn’t want him around tonight, then he’d be back tomorrow.
He’d just have to be persistent.
The moment he said that, Suzy turned to the maid. “Let security know–no Mr. Wrights or dogs are allowed on the premises.”
Dylan was left speechless.
He shot her a glare before turning away without another word. In his mind, no one could truly keep him away if he wanted in.
Dylan had assumed Allen was long gone, or he wouldn’t have left so easily. He wouldn’t risk her being alone with another man.
What he didn’t know was that Allen hadn’t left at all–he’d just gone to his room. After Claude left, Allen had been staying at the Harlow residence to ensure Suzy’s safety and to be at her side whenever needed. His presence was kept low–profile, and his identity remained a well–guarded secret.
During the days Diana had stayed here and Dylan visited daily, Allen had managed to stay out of sight, avoiding any confrontations that could reveal his presence.
Otherwise, Dylan wouldn’t have mistaken him for Suzy’s “toy boy.”
Suzy entered Allen’s room and got straight to the point. “Did you find anything on Yellowtail Squadron’s leader?”
