Suzy felt her defenses crumble at Diana’s words. “Silly girl, why are you so good to me?”
“Because you deserve it!” Diana said warmly. “Sis, once I’ve recovered, I’ll help you get justice for your family.”
Suzy’s eyes filled with unshed tears. “Alright.”
After hanging up, she immediately headed for the hospital, eager to see Diana. She drove quickly, but when she arrived, she was met with an unexpected sight.
Diana, whose condition had been stable, was suddenly experiencing a severe reaction to her medication. As Suzy entered, Diana was being rushed into the emergency room, and Dylan was nowhere in sight.
“What happened?” Suzy grabbed the arm of the attending physician. “She was fine just a moment ago when we talked on the phone. How did this reaction suddenly happen?”
Her mind immediately went to Hawk, and she asked, “Where is Dylan?”
“Mr. Wright received an urgent call and stepped out for a moment…”
Suzy’s expression darkened.
With Diana in critical care, Suzy didn’t say another word and followed them into the emergency room. Thankfully, they’d caught it in time, and Diana’s condition stabilized without further complications.
Suzy stayed by Diana’s side for over two hours before Dylan finally returned.
He paused, surprised to see her. “You’re here?
Suzy had been avoiding him for days, yet today, here she was. But she didn’t respond, only turned the question back on him. “Where were you?”
Her icy tone hit a nerve, and Dylan’s irritation flared. “Do I need to report my whereabouts to you?”
“No, you don’t.”
His attitude drained any patience she had left. She picked up her keys from the bedside table, intending to leave. Though she didn’t have proof it was Hawk’s doing, she didn’t doubt it, and she wouldn’t tolerate his actions any longer.
Seeing her prepare to leave, Dylan’s gaze darkened. “In the future, don’t make promises. you can’t keep.”
Suzy froze, then turned back. “I’ve already explained everything to Diana, and she understands. So, as far as I’m concerned, those promises no longer exist”

Without another word, Suzy turned and walked away without looking back.
Watching her retreating figure, Dylan’s eyes narrowed. “Whether it’s over or not isn’t for you to decide alone.”
As soon as she left the hospital, Suzy received a call from Allen. “Boss, I just got word- something happened to Anne.”
“What happened?” Suzy’s brow furrowed.
With Dylan’s people watching her in prison, how did this happen?
“She was attacked by a group. Her injuries are serious, and Dylan has already taken her out
of the prison, bringing her to his private villa for recovery.”
“So that’s why he left Diana…” Suzy muttered, a bitter smile touching her lips.
This was the same man Diana claimed had changed and no longer loved Anne.
Good thing her talk of remarriage had been nothing but empty words.
Pushing aside the sting of betrayal, Suzy refocused and asked, “Have you uncovered anything new at the hospital?”
“Before Diana’s reaction, she hadn’t come into contact with anyone. She only spoke with you on the phone, and then the reaction hit shortly after. Could it be that Hawk wasn’t involved and it was just a coincidence?”
“No, it’s not a coincidence,” Suzy said coldly. “If there were going to be a reaction, it would’ve happened sooner, not days later.”
Her voice hardened. “Whether or not it was Hawk no longer matters. Diana is in this condition because of him, and it’s time he paid the price for his actions.”
