Chapter 0172
As if reading her thoughts, Hawk spoke again. Since Diana doesn’t seem to sway you, how about another deal? Do you want to find the person responsible for your family’s murder? I can help you. But if I do, you’ll agree to be my girlfriend.”
Suzy rolled her eyes. “You’re that desperate for a woman?”
Hawk shook his head. “Not just any woman. I want you.”
“What exactly are you after?” Suzy felt an unsettling inability to read him. Was h
he good or bad? She still couldn’t tell.
If he were truly evil, he’d be working alongside the killer. But on the other hand, his actions. toward Diana certainly didn’t make him a saint
Hawk stepped closer, his body leaning in until she was nearly pressed against the car. “I told 1 you, I answer to no one. I have no ties to your enemies. I just want you to be my girlfriend–nothing more.”
Suzu didn’t like his closeness, especially the familiar scent he carried. It wasn’t just his resemblance to Claude; even his scent was almost identical. If she hadn’t seen Claude’s corpse herself, she might have questioned whether he had somehow survived. But she knew better.
Claude had been paralyzed for years, unable to recover so quickly, and he had never deceived her he never would.
In this world, anyone might betray her, but not Claude, and not her aunt.
This man was Hawk, not Claude.
She pushed him back, creating space between them, her face impassive as she asked, “Why me?”
“It doesn’t exactly have to be you,” he replied, a hint of a smirk.
“But there’s no one more suited to me.” Hawk continued, “My initial reason for going after Diana was to avenge Claude. He’s my twin, after all.
“When he was alive, I never once helped him,” Hawk continued, his tone strangely introspective. “Hearing of his death… it bothered me, made me feel I owed him something. If people knew we were brothers, they’d probably call me a disgrace of one.”
Then, shifting his focus back to her, he added with a smirk, “As for you… well, I’ve been single for nearly thirty years. Figured it was time to find a partner. After looking around, I realized no one else caught my eye–only you. With our combined strength, your enemies would have nowhere to hide. Why don’t you consider it?”

“Combined strength?” Suzy let out a derisive laugh, her eyes brimming with scorn. “Too bad I’m not interested in you at all.”
Hawk’s expression darkened as he grasped her chin, his grip firm. “Not interested in me? Then who? Your ex–husband? Junior, don’t tell me you’ve forgotten what Dylan did to you.”
Suzy brushed his hand away with even colder defiance. “Who I’m interested in has nothing to do with you. Hawk, let me make this clear: aim whatever you want at me, but if you harm another innocent, I’ll see this through to the bitter end.”
With that, she turned and got into her car.
Hawk didn’t stop her, only watching her drive away, a determined glint in his dark eyes. Suzy, you’ll be mine,” he murmured, “and I’ll make sure you want me.”
Pulling out his phone, he dialed a number.
When the call connected, he gave a single command, “Make your move.”
