“Suzy…”
The faint voice made Suzy’s heart jolt. She looked up in disbelief at Diana, who had woken.

She was awake!
It appeared that her relationship with Dylan was Diana’s top priority. So, everything Suzy had said just now….
Suzy glanced at Dylan from the corner of her eye.
She believed that even if Diana believed her, Dylan surely wouldn’t. He’d always suspected her of ulterior motives, and now, with her identity out in the open, it only confirmed his past suspicions. A con artist–he could only despise her more.
Relieved by this thought, Suzy focused back on Diana, ready to help her with a few checks, when her phone rang. She didn’t need to look to know it was Hawk.
The moment she answered, his voice came through. “Junior, time’s up. What’s your decision?”
Glancing at the newly conscious Diana, Suzy’s lips curved into a mocking smile. “Sorry to disappoint you, but Diana’s awake.”
There was a pause on Hawk’s end, as though he hadn’t anticipated this outcome. Then he replied, “Impressive, Junior. Your skills are improving. But next time, I wonder…”
“If there’s a next time, only one of us is walking away,” Suzy interrupted, her voice icy, eyes blazing with fierce resolve. “Try me if you think I’m bluffing.”
Without waiting for a response, she hung up.
Next to her, Dylan felt the chill emanating from her, his gaze shifting slightly. Yet he remained silent, not asking anything, not saying a word.
And since he asked nothing, Suzy had no intention of explaining. There was really no particular reason–she simply didn’t feel like talking to him.
Besides, there was no time.
With Diana just regaining consciousness, there were plenty of medical checks to perform.
After more than an hour of work, Suzy finally completed all the tests for Diana. She’d fallen asleep midway through, understandably exhausted after just waking up. Fortunately, all her vital signs looked normal, and now, all she needed was plenty of rest

To Suzy’s relief, Diana hadn’t mentioned her comment about remarrying Dylan. Maybe she’d forgotten, given her dazed state at the time–and if she had, all the better.

Just as Suzy was about to leave the room, Diana stirred awake.
“You’re up!” Suzy quickly returned to her bedside. “Are you feeling thirsty?”
Diana nodded, so Suzy fetched a cup of warm water and used a cotton swab to moisten her lips. “You just woke up; you can’t drink too much at once,”
After a few moments, Suzy asked, “Feel a little better?”
Diana nodded again.
Setting the cup on the bedside table, Suzy asked, “Is there any discomfort?”
Diana gently shook her head. “No, don’t worry, Suzy.”
Suzy knew she wasn’t being entirely truthful. With a head injury that severe, there had to be some lingering pain–Diana was only saying it to keep Suzy from worrying.
Diana had always been like that, thoughtful to the point of heartbreak.
Swallowing her emotions, Suzy was about to ask what was on Diana’s phone, wondering if there was something crucial locked away in it. Although she had cracked Hawk’s ID, the contents of Diana’s phone remained inaccessible.
Before she could ask, Dylan returned, carrying supplies for Diana.
