As Suzy’s countdow
ended, the men’s faces grew even paler, fear intensifying in their
eyes. Yet none of them were willing to speak the truth.
“So, that’s your choice,” she said, her voice as cold as a messenger from the underworld, ” Take them out and give back double what they did to Diana.”
“Understood!” Allen summoned a few of his men.
As they were being dragged out, the driver who’d taken her kick finally cracked. “I’ll talk! I’ll talk!”
Suzy’s sharp gaze fell on him, and Allen’s men immediately released their grip, letting him stumble forward. He steadied himself, desperation plain in his eyes. “It’s true-

Before he could finish, one of his companions hissed, “Are you crazy? You’ll get us all killed if you talk!”
“Not talking will get us killed faster!” he shot back. “Saying it might be dangerous, but keeping silent is a death sentence!”
Allen smirked from the sidelines. “At least one of you has some sense.
The man swallowed hard, then looked back at Suzy. “Someone instructed us to box her in on the road and teach her a lesson. But she didn’t back down. After two attempts, she started taunting us, and that’s when we got the order to finish her off.”
He glanced away, guilt weighing heavily. “She must’ve chosen that route because it was close to where she was headed. We thought she’d eventually surrender, but she refused. She was ready to go down fighting, even if it meant taking us with her. We dodged her attack, and she ended up crashing into a tree…
Suzy’s patience thinned as he rambled. “Who gave you the orders?”
“I don’t know!” he shook his head frantically. “It was a random call. The voice told me to gather a crew and follow instructions. I didn’t want to at first, but he threatened to kill me if I didn’t comply.”
Suzy’s gaze turned even colder. “The number?”
The man quickly pulled out his phone. “The last call in my history–it doesn’t display a number though.”
Suzy took the phone and immediately connected it to her laptop. The number was encrypted, just like the one tied to Anne and Helena, the same multi–layered encryption she’d been tracking. Cracking it wouldn’t be quick or easy. It was almost certainly the same
group.

But why target Diana now?
A thought struck her, and she turned back to the man. “After the crash, what were you looking for in Diana’s car?”
“Her phone.”
“What’s on her phone?”
Something that important would have to be significant to risk going after Dylan’s sister.
“I don’t know. We were just told to find her phone. No one told me why.”
Suzy’s eyes narrowed. “Did you find it?”
The man shook his head. “No. We tore through the car and still couldn’t find it. But right before the crash, I was close enough to see her on a call–she seemed pretty worked up. But once it was over and we searched, the phone was nowhere to be found.”
She processed his words, remembering the two missed calls from Diana that she’d ignored earlier.
