“Say it! Hurry up and say it!” Diana urged impatiently, almost pulling Dylan out of his chair and pushing him right in front of Suzy. “Come on, tell her!”
But before Dylan could open his mouth, Suzy cut in, “Diana, don’t push him. He’s not very good at lying.”
“Suzy, my brother really doesn’t love Anne anymore!” Diana insisted, looking as if she was ready to swear an oath. “You probably don’t know this yet, but Anne and her mother are about to be sentenced, right?”
She pointed to Dylan. “That was his doing! If he still had feelings for Anne, would he really have sent them to jail?”
“Diana…, Suzy interrupted, “If I remember correctly, when I walked in, you were telling him to admit he regretted the divorce. And he replied…” She looked at Dylan, emphasizing each word, “Not once.”
“You know how my brother is–stubborn as a rock and the worst when it comes to admitting his feelings,” Diana protested, visibly frustrated. “He’s regretted it for a long time; he just won’t swallow his pride. Don’t believe me? Call Grandma right now. A few days ago, he went to see her, and they spent half the day talking about
you.”
She picked up her phone from the hospital bed and moved to call Grace, but Suzy stopped
her.
“Whether it’s true or not, it doesn’t matter to me anymore,” Suzy said coolly.
The indifference in her eyes made Diana freeze. “Suzy…”
“Whether he loves me or regrets it has nothing to do with me now,” Suzy said, her tone devoid of any emotion as if she were talking about something that held no importance
whatsoever.
She turned and left, leaving the siblings standing there.
Diana thought about going after her but stopped herself, realizing there was nothing more she could say.
Suzy simply didn’t believe any of it.
Turning back, she glared at Dylan, who had remained silent the entire time. “Seriously, bro, when I was here pouring my heart out, couldn’t you at least chime in? Just one word- I’m not asking for a speech!
“Not a single explanation, not even a word in your own defense! These days, silence isn’t golden–it’s just misunderstandings, loss, and regrets that can never be undone!”

Diana’s voice grew louder as her frustration spilled over. “You keep quiet when you should speak up, but when it comes to saying the wrong thing, you have no problem doing so! ‘Not once,‘ you said…”
She grabbed Dylan’s hand, placing it over his heart. “Feel it. Ask yourself–losing her, do you truly feel no regret? And knowing she only has thoughts for Claude now–does that not hurt you even a little?
“I worked so hard to set this chance up for you, and you smashed it to pieces with two words. From now on, handle it yourself, because I’m done trying to help!”
Grabbing her bag from the sofa, Diana stormed out, leaving Dylan alone in the large, silent hospital room. He stood motionless, his expression unchanged, but inside, he was far from calm.
Especially with Suzy’s words echoing in his mind:
“Whether he loves me or regrets it has nothing to do with me now.”
She’d said it with a calmness that seemed absolute as if she truly no longer cared.
Even without Claude, she would never look back and never choose him again.
