“Police station?”
“That’s right!” Allen replied. “Anne and Helena tried to escape from the Goodwin family when Claude met with that accident, but Dylan caught up with them. At first, I thought he was going there to comfort Anne.
“But when he arrived, he slapped her right across the face, then had both mother and daughter sent to the police station, along with evidence of their schemes against you.
“The Goodwin family even added pressure to the situation, making it impossible for William to bail them out. There’s a strong chance they’ll end up facing charges.”
“And?” Suzy prompted.
“So, I don’t think Dylan is as invested in Anne as you think he is. Why would he send her to jail if he really cared about her?”
After watching Dylan’s behavior toward Anne all this time, Allen couldn’t shake the feeling that Suzy might be mistaken about him.
Suzy let out a cold laugh. “Prison may not be the freest place, but it’s far from the most dangerous either. Anne and Helena openly insulted the Goodwin family, and you saw Mr. Martin’s reaction firsthand. If you were Dylan, what would you do?”
“You’re saying…Dylan did it on purpose?”
Suzy’s gaze darkened. “It serves as an explanation to the Goodwin family, while also ensuring the safety of both mother and daughter. It’s a win–win, isn’t it?”
Allen paused, questioning everything he’d assumed.
He opened his mouth to speak again, but Suzy cut him off with a wave. “Get started on the funeral arrangements.”
As Suzy had anticipated, that very night, news of Claude’s passing began circulating on major websites and media platforms.
Meanwhile, Julian, who had been locked up, was released by the ever–opportunistic family steward. The steward had always obeyed whoever held power, and with Claude gone and Matthew in the hospital after a stroke, Julian was now the sole candidate to lead the Harlow family.
As soon as he saw the news, he hurried to the basement and freed Julian.
The first thing Julian did upon his release was storm into Claude’s memorial hall, brimming with smugness..

“Claude, you thought you could bring me down and claim the throne?” he sneered, grinning with unrestrained glee. “You calculated everything but forgot the one thing you couldn’t control–your short lifespan.”
Pointing at Claude’s photo, he added mockingly, “You were born with that ill–fated look, yet you dared to challenge me. Better luck in your next life!”
“Someone, get in here and tear down his memorial hall! From this day forward, he is no longer part of the Harlow family!”
The servants exchanged uneasy glances, each waiting for the other to make a move.
Just then, the steward stepped in. “What are you all standing around for? Didn’t you hear Mr. Julian’s orders? You’d better understand this: from now on, he’s in charge, and your expenses and wages depend on him.”
With that, the servants no longer hesitated, picking up anything they could find to start dismantling the place.
“I’d like to see who dares!”
Suzy entered, catching the scene just in time. “Anyone who so much as touches anything here, I’ll make sure you lose your head!”
Julian sneered, not bothering to hide his contempt. “Just a lowly caretaker–who gave you the nerve to act so bold?”
Turning to the steward, he added, “Her master is dead, so why keep around a useless bitch? Are you really that fond of listening to her bark?”
“Yes, yes, Mr. Julian, you’re absolutely right,” the steward replied hurriedly. He strode up to Suzy with a smug look. “You’re fired. Now, pack your things and get out of the Har-”
Slap!
Before he could finish, Suzy’s hand struck his face, knocking him off balance and onto the floor. The steward had never imagined a woman could pack such a punch, strong enough to send him sprawling.
The other servants, watching in stunned silence, quickly put down the items in their hands and backed away.
Julian’s face twisted in fury. “You shameless woman! I was letting you leave quietly, but since you’re so loyal to Claude, I’ll make sure you join him!”
He pointed at the group of servants who had retreated to the side. “You lot–grab her!‘
