Diana thought about how cold Suzy was toward her brother these days, and her mood
soured further
Pulling out her phone, she snapped a few pictures of Suzy with Claude and sent them straight to Dylan. If she was feeling miserable, he shouldn’t get off easy either there was no way he wasn’t at least a little regretful!
Dylan, on his way to the Goodwin estate, heard his phone buzz repeatedly but didn’t bother picking it up.
Usually, when his phone buzzed like that, it was just a flood of messages from Diana- mostly pointless chatter he could ignore.
When he reached the Goodwin estate’s entrance, he finally checked his phone. As expected, it was a string of photos from Diana. Dismissing them as junk, he swiped the notifications away and pocketed his phone before stepping out of the car.
“Mr. Dylan…”
He’d barely taken a few steps when Anne’s voice rang out from behind. She hurried over and looped her arm around his right one. “What a coincidence! Let’s go in together, shall We?”
Dylan shot a glance at Desmond.
Desmond quickly stepped forward, saying, “Miss Wheeler, aren’t you feeling unwell? Perhaps I should take you to the hospital.”
“I may not feel great, but the Goodwins‘ invitation is one I can’t refuse,” Anne replied, refusing to let go of Dylan’s arm. “My parents couldn’t make it today, so it’s just me! Mr. Dylan, I’m feeling a little dizzy; would you mind helping me?”
Dylan was about to respond when Brandon approached and greeted him, “Mr. Wright.”
Anne responded before Dylan could, “Brandon, you’re here early too?”
It turned out Anne and Brandon were acquainted, and after a few polite exchanges, Brandon gestured for Dylan to go ahead. “After you, Mr. Wright.”
“Thanks, Brandon; we won’t hold back, then,” Anne chimed in, quickly tugging Dylan along before he could say anything, chatting endlessly as they entered.
To others, they seemed a harmonious pair.
Especially to Suzy, who had arrived earlier and observed the scene from across the room.
Seeing Dylan enter with Anne on his arm, a flash of disdain crossed Suzy’s eyes, but it was gone in an instant. She quickly looked away, deliberately ignoring the two as they walked

The moment Anne spotted her, she released Dylan’s arm and rushed over, her face lit up. with a feigned simile. “Suzy, we had a bit of a misunderstanding last time. I’m not just here to congratulate you today–I wanted to apologize too.”
As she spoke, Anne clasped Suzy’s hand. “Suzy, you’re too gracious to hold a grudge. Won’t you forgive me?”
Her words sounded sincere, but Anne had hidden a sewing needle in her palm, pressing it into Suzy’s hand with malicious intent.
Yet, in the next second…
“Ah!”
A sudden jolt of pain twisted Anne’s expression.
Feigning innocence, Suzy looked at her. “Miss Wheeler, why do you look so uncomfortable all of a sudden?”
Anne retracted her hand, realizing the needle had pierced her own palm instead. Her face paled, but she forced a smile and clenched her hand to hide the pain. “Oh, it’s nothing. I haven’t been feeling well lately.”
“Is that so? Then you should really avoid running around. Who knows, your condition might worsen, and it could be life–threatening,” Suzy replied with a polite but pointed smile.
“Thank you for your concern, Suzy. I’ll just… go to the restroom for a moment.”
Anne quickly slipped away to the bathroom, where she pulled the needle from her palm and immediately called Helena. “Mom, I failed. Are things set on your end?”
“All prepared. Just sit back and enjoy the show!”
