Diana chimed in, “That’s right, Suzy. The moment Grandma heard you were back, she was so excited she nearly tripped coming downstairs, afraid she’d miss even a second of seeing you.”
This was exactly why Suzy, had avoided visiting Grace–she worried her presence would cause this kind of reaction.
Even though Suzy was already here, she couldn’t bring herself to stay. “Grandma, I’ve missed you too, but I’ve been so busy lately. Once things settle down, I’ll come and spend some quality time with you. How does that sound?”
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to stay; she was afraid to.
After the assassination attempt on Claude, Suzy feared that the person behind it might target Grace next.
After tonight, having witnessed the enemy’s capabilities firsthand, her worries only deepened. Given how they try to manipulate her relationship with Dylan, she wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to use Grace as a pawn.
So, until she solved this, she couldn’t risk getting too close to Grace.
Her answer clearly surprised everyone, especially Dylan, whose face darkened instantly. Grace looked disappointed but didn’t press. “Alright, you take care of what you need to. Come back whenever you have the time.”
Those words, “Come back,” filled Suzy with an ache she couldn’t ignore.
Despite her divorce from Dylan, Grace still treated her as family.
Diana opened her mouth to protest, but Grace gave her a subtle look, stopping her. “It’s late. Why don’t you rest here tonight and have breakfast before you leave in the morning?”
Suzy hesitated, then mustered the courage to reply, “Grandma, please rest well. I’ll come visit again soon.”
Not giving Grace a chance to respond, Suzy bowed respectfully, then turned and made a
swift exit.
As Suzy hurried away, nearly breaking into a run, Diana scowled and muttered, “It looks like she’s really given up.”
She shot a glare at Dylan. “She’ll never look back now, and I hope someone here is finally satisfied with that!”
Dylan didn’t say a word, simply standing there and watching as Suzy’s figure faded into the distance.

The Wright family estate was quite remote, and getting a taxi out here was no easy task.
Suzy was about to head toward the gatehouse when she heard the low hum of an engine. Dylan’s car, a sleek black Maybach, emerged through the main gates and pulled up in front of her. The passenger door swung open automatically.
“Grandma asked me to make sure you got home safely,” Dylan said.
Figures.
Suzy curled her lips into a tight, sarcastic smile. “No need to trouble you, Mr. Wright.”
With that, she turned toward the gatehouse and asked the guard there, “Is that motorcycle parked outside yours?”
The estate’s gatekeepers were all young men, between twenty–five and twenty–eight. While they appeared to be simple guards, they were actually highly trained operatives assigned to ensure the safety of Grace and Diana.
Though he had no idea what she intended, the guard, mindful of Suzy’s past status, answered truthfully, “Yes, Mrs. Wright.”
The term “Mrs. Wright” made Suzy’s brows knit slightly, but she didn’t comment on it.
“Mind if I borrow it?”
“Well…”
“You don’t want to?”
The guard quickly handed over the keys. “Of course not! Please, take it.”
Suzy accepted the keys with a nod. “Alright, I’ll have it returned by tomorrow.”
Dylan could see her talking to the guard but couldn’t hear their conversation.
A moment later, he watched curiously as Suzy strode over to the motorcycle parked beside the gatehouse.
She inserted the key, started the engine, and roared away in a cloud of dust.
She knew how to ride a motorcycle!?
