“Not long ago, didn’t you ask Allen to relay a message to me? You suspected that the assassination attempt three years ago, along with your parents‘ and brothers‘ murders, might be linked to the Goodwin family?” Charlotte asked. “This grudge isn’t only yours; it’s mine too, and revenge shouldn’t rest on you alone.”
She continued, “Recently, I’ve been getting closer to Mark’s wife, hoping I might uncover some useful information from her. Tonight, she invited me over, and after a few drinks, I ended up staying late. I didn’t expect to run into you here!”
Charlotte looked at Suzy with curiosity. “So, did you find anything on your little night visit to the Goodwins?”
Suzy shook her head. “I checked Mark’s study but couldn’t find anything useful.”
Charlotte considered this. “Is it possible the Goodwin family isn’t involved at all? After all, your father had a decent relationship with them when he was alive.”
It was true that during her father’s lifetime, their family had been on fairly good terms with the Goodwins, especially since her father and Mark had been college friends.
Moreover, there had never been any conflicts of interest between the Frost and Goodwin families.
Suzy furrowed her brow. “But three years ago, when that group tried to assassinate me,
mentioned the Goodwin family right before I fell off the cliff.”

“Maybe they did it on purpose?” Charlotte suggested. “The Goodwin family has been in politics for years and has likely made plenty of enemies. It’s possible someone wanted them to take the fall.”
Suzy thought about it. “I doubt it. Those people were sure I wouldn’t survive, so they had no reason to hold back. Even if I discovered the truth, they believed I wouldn’t be able to
act on it.
“What I can’t figure out is why the Goodwins would be involved and what they have to gain. And who else might be behind them–that’s still a mystery. But I’m sure the Goodwin family is a lead worth following.”
Charlotte nodded. “Alright, enough talk about grim topics. There’s something else I need to settle with you! Three years ago, if you were still alive, why didn’t you reach out to me? And not only that, but you also went and got married without even asking my permission? You little brat have you completely stopped taking me seriously?”
“Uh… Aunt, I have some urgent matters to handle, so I’d better be going!” Suzy said, seizing the chance to escape.
Now was the perfect time to run, or her aunt would never let her hear the end of it!

Her aunt had beauty, a great figure, and plenty of skills, and had devoted herself to helping Suzy seek revenge all these years. Now forty, slie was still unmarried, but there was one thing about her that was… less ideal.
She was too talkative!
Three years ago, Suzy had married Dylan in secret, fearing her aunt’s endless commentary. Later, she’d avoided reaching out directly for the same reason, never expecting they’d run into each other tonight at the Goodwin estate.
Just as she reached the door and was about to slip away, Charlotte called after her, “Girl, Dylan Wright is not a good match. Between him and that Harlow boy, I’d place my bets on the latter.”
“Aunt, please, don’t go playing matchmaker! Claude has always treated me like a sister, and I’ve only ever thought of him as a brother. Say what you want to me, but don’t ever mention this in front of him.”
With that, Suzy hurried out, missing the thoughtful look in Charlotte’s eyes as she left.
Back at the hospital, Suzy showered and got into bed, instructing Allen to contact Dylan with a simple
message: Tina had refused to work with him.
“If he tries to reach out again after that, just ignore him.”
She had just hung up and was about to drift off to sleep when the hospital room door was suddenly kicked open from the outside.
